In the process of conducting scientific research, establishing a solid theoretical foundation is essential to ensure both academic rigor and practical value. This requires researchers to invest significant effort in identifying, reviewing, and synthesizing relevant literature. However, in practice, many scholars spend considerable time on this stage without achieving the desired efficiency.
Recognizing this challenge, on the evening of December 29, the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) organized a workshop titled “Applying Bibliometric Methods to Systematize Theoretical Foundations and Identify Emerging Research Directions.” The session provided lecturers with practical strategies to efficiently access reliable data sources, analyze existing studies, and identify research gaps for future innovation. This workshop also marked the conclusion of FBA’s three-month series, “Enhancing Teaching Quality and Practical Expertise toward International Standards.”
The workshop was led by MSc. Vo Hong Son – Lecturer, Faculty of Business Administration

The session introduced Bibliometrics as an emerging global research trend
Representing the Faculty of Business Administration were Dr. Ly Dan Thanh – Dean; Dr. Huynh Nhut Nghia, MSc. Nguyen Ngoc Thuy Tien, and MSc. Tran Hoang Nam – Vice Deans, along with numerous lecturers and faculty staff.
Throughout the workshop, participants were introduced to key aspects of Bibliometrics, including conceptual foundations, methods for collecting input data, techniques for analyzing published research across academic platforms, and strategies for selecting appropriate journals for publication success.

Concepts were delivered through clear and practical case studies
According to the speaker, Bibliometrics is increasingly applied in global research contexts as a powerful tool for quantifying and analyzing published academic materials. It enables researchers to map relationships among publications, leverage secondary data effectively, and identify breakthrough directions for their studies—thereby contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the research landscape.
To ensure clarity and applicability, MSc. Vo Hong Son also demonstrated live processes for data collection using reputable academic databases such as Web of Science and Scopus, which are widely recognized as credible sources for scholarly research.
Beyond knowledge acquisition, the workshop served as a collaborative forum for lecturers to exchange experiences and insights. During hands-on activities, participants actively supported one another, shared practical challenges, and reflected on real research experiences. These interactions not only enhanced professional competencies but also strengthened collegial connections within the FBA academic community.

Lecturers actively practice applying the method to collect research data
The successful conclusion of the workshop also marked the completion of FBA’s three-month initiative on enhancing teaching quality and practical expertise aligned with international standards. It is expected that the knowledge and skills gained will empower lecturers to continuously improve their research methodologies and teaching practices, thereby delivering greater value to UEF students.
