UEF Lecturers Enhance Research Capacity Through Systems Thinking And Bayesian Reasoning

04/09/2025
To support faculty members in enhancing academic excellence, on the morning of April 9, the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) organized a workshop titled “Applying Systems Thinking and Bayesian Reasoning in Research Design.” The program introduced new perspectives and expanded intellectual frameworks, contributing to improved teaching, research, and academic publication among lecturers.
The workshop aims to enhance the research quality of faculty members
The workshop was attended by Dr. Ly Dan Thanh – Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration; Dr. Huynh Nhut Nghia and MSc. Nguyen Ngoc Thuy Tien – Vice Deans of the Faculty, along with program heads and lecturers from the Faculty.

Through this initiative, FBA continues to affirm its commitment to advancing research capacity, equipping lecturers with contemporary methodologies, and fostering a strong academic culture aligned with international standards.
The keynote speaker of the workshop was MSc. Tran Anh Tung – Head of the Business Administration program. Drawing on his extensive experience in teaching and research, he delivered an in-depth presentation on two key approaches: systems thinking and Bayesian reasoning. In particular, systems thinking was introduced as a powerful tool that enables researchers to approach problems holistically, examining not only individual components but also the interrelationships and dynamic interactions within a system.
In addition, Bayesian reasoning was clearly explained with practical applications. Based on the principle of updating probabilities in light of new information, Bayesian inference serves as a valuable tool for decision-making in research, especially in contexts where data is limited and business environments are rapidly evolving.

Beyond theoretical frameworks, participants were also guided on how to integrate these two approaches into research design. The process included key steps such as problem identification, hypothesis development, data collection, analysis, and evaluation. The speaker incorporated practical examples from both teaching and business management contexts, making the content highly relevant and applicable to academic practices at UEF.

Through this meaningful professional development activity, the Faculty of Business Administration once again reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing faculty competencies, thereby strengthening the foundation for high-quality teaching and research. The workshop also serves as a proactive step toward developing application-oriented research projects, contributing to elevating the academic standing and professional capacity of UEF lecturers.
