FOEers updated on FTAs and Globalization Strategies for Vietnam’s Economy

03/08/2024

March 8, 2025 — On March 4, the Faculty of Economics (FOE) held a topical seminar for the International Business Management course, themed “Globalization and International Economic Integration in Vietnam: Notes for Enterprises Doing Business in Overseas Markets.” From an enterprise perspective, FOE students (“FOEers”) explored strategies for entering international markets, exporting, and harnessing globalization. They were also introduced to practical tools to better understand international integration and the opportunities and challenges facing Vietnam’s economy.

The seminar enabled FOE students to access practical, real-world knowledge effectively.

FOEers heard directly from Ms. Duong Thuy An, Specialist at the Ho Chi Minh City International Integration Support Center. Drawing on years of experience in international cooperation, the speaker provided in-depth, hands-on insights into the opportunities and challenges Vietnam encounters as it participates in free trade agreements (FTAs).

Opening the session, Ms. Thuy An discussed strategies that Vietnamese companies should adopt when engaging foreign markets. She emphasized that understanding FTA provisions and building a smart globalization strategy are decisive factors for business success.

“To penetrate overseas markets, enterprises need to cultivate a global mindset,” Ms. Thúy An emphasized.

In addition, Ms. Nguyen Thuy An introduced students to tools for searching information and regulations on FTAs, helping both students and businesses look up requirements and apply appropriate strategies to expand their markets. As the program concluded, the speaker advised that in the era of globalization, digital transformation and the green transition are not optional but essential conditions for survival and growth.

Students actively exchanged ideas with the speaker.
The seminar “Globalization and International Economic Integration in Vietnam: Notes for Enterprises Doing Business in Overseas Markets” offered FOEers both a broad overview and concrete details on FTAs, globalization trends, and key strategies Vietnamese firms need to succeed internationally. It also served as motivation and a foundation for students—the future contributors to Vietnam’s development and integration—to continue advancing in the years ahead.
