As part of the "Student Exchange - Expand Your Horizons - Experience a New Culture" program , on January 19th, a group of students from Christ University, India, continued to have memorable learning and cultural exploration experiences.
The day's activities are designed to strike a balance between academic learning, cultural exchange, and practical experience, helping international students gain a deeper understanding of the language, people, and life in Vietnam.
The day's experience began with a Vietnamese Language & Cross-Cultural Communication class, taught directly by Ms. Ksenia Kholkina, M.Sc., Lecturer at the UEF English Department. The class was also attended by faculty members from the Economics Department and the head of the Indian student delegation.
In the class, international students are introduced to fundamental Vietnamese knowledge such as greetings, self-introductions, the alphabet, and tones, while also practicing pronunciation and communication in simple situations. The lesson content also extends to non-verbal etiquette in academic and work environments, from gestures and eye contact to communication attitudes.
Through case studies and group discussions on intercultural conflict, students have the opportunity to exchange, compare, and better understand the differences and similarities between Vietnamese and Indian cultures.
Later that afternoon, the student group continued their participation in the UEF Campus Tour & City Orientation. At the UEF campus, international students toured the functional classrooms, library, self-study area, and modern learning spaces, gaining a more visual understanding of the training environment, facilities, and student life at UEF.
The experiential journey was extended with an exploration of typical cultural and tourist attractions in Ho Chi Minh City such as Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. Besides learning about history, architecture, and urban life, international students were also introduced to local transportation, public etiquette, and participated in interactive activities and challenges with UEF students. This was an opportunity to strengthen connections, create shared memories, and foster an open spirit of exchange between students from both countries.
Concluding on January 19th, the program continued to help international students broaden their understanding of the language, people, and life in Vietnam. The experiences gained during the day not only enriched their learning journey but also laid the foundation for learning activities and experiences at businesses in the following days, promising to provide students with a practical and multifaceted perspective.
