Faculty of Economics Launches AI Training Series to Empower Local Businesses

11/02/2024

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the way businesses operate and compete across the globe. Recognizing this shift, the Faculty of Economics at the University of Economics and Finance (UEF) has partnered with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) Vietnam and the International Business Club (IBC) to host a training series titled “Enhancing AI Knowledge and Applications for Small and Medium Enterprises.”

The program officially kicked off on the afternoon of November 1, marking the beginning of a three-day journey (November 2–4) aimed at helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ho Chi Minh City strengthen their understanding and practical use of AI.

The opening ceremony attracted strong participation from representatives of SMEs across Ho Chi Minh City.

The opening session was graced by Ms. Le Thi Thu Trang , Project Manager at FNF Vietnam, and Mr. Nguyễn Tấn Lực, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Young Business Association. Representing UEF were Mr. Đỗ Quốc Anh, Vice Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Ngo Minh Hai, Vice Principal and Dean of the Faculty of Economics; Mr. Tran Thanh Huy, Deputy Director of the Center for Business Cooperation; Ms. Tang My Ha and Mr. Nguyen Le Dong Xuan, Deputy Deans of the Faculty of Economics, along with lecturers from various departments across the university.

The event also featured Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Huan, Head of the Financial Markets Department, and Dr. Ngo Minh Vu , Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Banking, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, as keynote speakers.

Mr. Do Quoc Anh delivered remarks on behalf of UEF at the opening ceremony.
During the opening session, the speakers provided participants with a comprehensive overview of artificial intelligence — from emerging trends and technological frameworks to real-world business implications in the Industry 4.0 era. Through their engaging presentations, the experts illustrated how AI can optimize operations, enhance decision-making, and help SMEs improve competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

Experts shared fundamental insights into artificial intelligence and its transformative potential.

Beyond its technological advantages, the discussions also highlighted the ethical dimensions and corporate responsibility involved in adopting AI. The speakers encouraged businesses to approach AI as a tool for sustainable growth, not merely for profit maximization. Participants were introduced to several practical AI tools and case studies demonstrating responsible and effective implementation.

Dr. Ngo Minh Hai  facilitated a discussion on the challenges and opportunities of AI in the digital era.

Following the opening, the three-day program continues with a series of in-depth workshops on specialized topics, including:

  • AI Fundamentals and Applications in Business Management

  • AI in Corporate Governance

  • AI Applications in Marketing and Sales

  • AI for Customer Service and Support

Each session is designed to bridge theory and practice, giving participants hands-on experience with real-world AI tools and strategies tailored to the needs of SMEs. The final session, scheduled for November 4, will focus on practical exercises and experience sharing, allowing participants to apply AI solutions to their own business challenges.

AI adoption remains a top priority for many enterprises amid today’s digital transformation.

More than just a training program, this seminar series serves as a knowledge bridge between academia and the business community, helping SMEs in Ho Chi Minh City access cutting-edge technology and advance their digital transformation journey. By equipping participants with both strategic insight and practical tools, the initiative aims to strengthen the competitiveness and innovation capacity of local enterprises in today’s fast-evolving business landscape.
