UEF promotes innovation and the application of AI in the development of research resources.

On February 29th, the Department of Science, Technology and International Projects organized a training program focusing on current trends and essential needs for UEF faculty and staff. With  the theme "Promoting Innovation and AI Application in the Development of Teaching and Scientific Research Resources ," the UEF community had the opportunity to meet and listen to valuable insights from numerous experts.
The training program was attended and supervised by Dr. Ho Vien Phuong - Vice Rector, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri - Vice Rector, Dr. Ngo Minh Hai - Vice Rector, Dr. Mach Tran Huy - Deputy Head of the University Office, and Dr. Nguyen Thanh Luan - Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Technology and International Projects. The event attracted significant interest and participation from UEF faculty and staff, as well as lecturers from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH).

The program attracted the interest and participation of a large number of faculty and staff members from both within and outside the school.

The training program was designed with three modules: Module 1 - Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Digital Resource Development and Teaching; Module 2 - Skills in Information Resource Exploitation and Scientific Citation; Module 3 - Applications of Innovation in Training and Scientific Research. 
In the first module, faculty members met and listened to valuable insights from Dr. Le Hoang Su, Head of the Information Systems Department at the University of Economics and Law, VNU-HCM. The speaker outlined an overview of artificial intelligence in the current context of societal development and introduced faculty members to some popular AI tools. Furthermore, faculty members learned from the speaker about implementing university teaching in the AI ​​era, developing digital learning materials with AI applications, and more.

 

Dr. Le Hoang Su shared an interesting and useful story about artificial intelligence.

The second module focused on improving skills in accessing information resources and citations in scientific research. Regarding information retrieval skills, Ms. Ngo Thi Bich Phuong, Director of the UEF Library, led the discussion. UEF already possesses a diverse information resource at home. The speaker helped faculty members learn how to search and research materials in the UEF library using the LibUEF application. In addition, she introduced and guided faculty and staff on how to access and utilize many other open educational resources.

Continuing the training program, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Tuan - Director of HUTECH Library - guided the lecturers on how to cite scientific sources using currently available advanced platforms. In scientific research, citation is quite important and needs to be standardized in both form and content. The speaker outlined the APA citation standard theory, the application of the Zotero citation platform, and the template for compiling textbooks. 

 

Scientific citation is an important skill, as emphasized by Mr. Hoang Ngoc Tuan. 

The third session took place in the afternoon of the same day, chaired by Mr. Le Nhat Quang, M.Sc. The speaker is currently the Deputy Director of the Software Technology Park of VNU-HCM, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of VNU-HCM, and Vice President of the Network of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centers of Universities and Colleges in Vietnam. Through Mr. Le Nhat Quang's presentation, the faculty members clearly understood the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in higher education programs, and gained a better understanding of how to create an environment that fosters innovative thinking in training and scientific research.

Concluding the three workshops, the teachers have learned many essential lessons and skills in applying artificial intelligence, information mining, and innovation in education. These contents will serve as a foundation for teachers to acquire new knowledge to create even better teaching and scientific research quality.

With this training program, the development and enhancement of the capacity of the faculty and staff continues to take a new step forward. In the future, UEF will implement more training courses with diverse and engaging topics, continuously updated according to the general development trends of the era. The faculty and staff of UEF will continuously improve their knowledge and skills to best serve education in the 4.0 era.
