UEF Information Technology Faculty students brilliantly win Runner-up prize at DATATHON 2026

Continuing to affirm their professional competence and grit in nationwide academic arenas, the team BitBuds—consisting of Data Science students from the Faculty of Information Technology at UEF—brilliantly won the overall Runner-up prize at DATATHON 2026: The Gridbreakers.

DATATHON 2026 is a nationwide academic competition on data science for students across the country, creating an environment for learners to apply professional knowledge, data analytical thinking, and technology application skills to solve real-world problems. The Grand Finale of the competition took place on May 23 at VinUniversity, gathering the most outstanding teams after multiple selection rounds.

The nationwide competition demonstrated the practical competitiveness of UEF students.

Going through a competitive journey alongside many heavy-weight opponents from universities nationwide, BitBuds successfully passed the qualifying round, the Top 50, and advanced into the Top 8 most outstanding teams to secure their spot in the Grand Finale. Here, the members prominently demonstrated their capabilities in data analysis, solution building, teamwork skills, and the ability to present and defend their ideas before the Jury Council.

The team members brought pride to the Faculty of Information Technology and UEF through their outstanding achievements.

The impressive point in BitBuds' performance lay not only in handling data models or technical metrics but also in efficient data mining, clear problem interpretation, and persuasive data storytelling. These are crucial skills for human resources in the fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence amidst the robust ongoing digital transformation.

The Runner-up achievement at DATATHON 2026 is a well-deserved result for the serious study, research process, and proactive spirit of participating in academic activities by UEF students. Simultaneously, this is also a testament to the school's practice-oriented training model, creating conditions for students to constantly develop professional competence, accumulate experience, and enhance their competitive edge in future professional environments.
