Pre-Doctoral Programme Launches Second Cohort,Continues to Build an International Academic Foundation

Following the success of the first cohort of the Pre-Doctoral Programme, UEF, in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), is launching the second cohort in December 2025. This edition features notable enhancements designed to help participants accelerate their path into doctoral programs both domestically and internationally.

Structured as “10 modules over 5 weeks,” the second cohort of the Pre-Doctoral Programme is designed to help participants clearly assess their research competencies, understand the requirements of doctoral-level study, and map out their individual academic pathways.

The second cohort marks a new milestone as UEF, in collaboration with HUTECH, expands research opportunities, expert networks, and academic mentorship for participants.

The programme’s learning space is hosted at the 4-star Wink Hotel Saigon Centre, providing a modern and creative environment conducive to collaboration, critical discussion, and in-depth research.

The second cohort places special emphasis on discipline-oriented guidance, helping participants select and develop research areas such as economics, management, finance, education, and related fields. Each participant receives in-depth mentorship, enabling them to build the essential foundation to meet the rigorous requirements of doctoral programs both in Vietnam and abroad.

The Pre-Doctoral Programme also serves as a “bridge,” connecting participants from diverse fields and professional backgrounds

By participating in the Pre-Doctoral Programme, students can develop independent research capabilities, academic thinking, and the ability to critically read and comprehend specialized literature; master academic writing skills, particularly with a focus on international publication; finalize research proposals in preparation for doctoral admissions; and access experienced academic mentors, laying a strong foundation for their long-term research journey.

Notably, the programme admits only 20 participants to ensure personalized mentorship and effective academic support. The second cohort of the Pre-Doctoral Programme promises to continue serving as a solid foundation for students aspiring to pursue a doctoral degree in a structured, confident, and highly effective manner.

The programme is open to the following candidates:

Staff, lecturers, and employees of UEF and HUTECH.

External students and researchers outside these institutions.

Eligibility requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in fields such as Economics, Business Administration, Finance and Banking, Languages, Education, or related areas; aim to pursue a doctoral degree within the next 1–2 years; and possess academic English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or higher.
