13/11/2025

Modern higher education is increasingly intertwined with research and international collaboration. Engaging with leading scholars worldwide can create opportunities for academic growth while also reinforcing the position of Vietnamese universities on the global knowledge map.
Aligned with this vision, on the afternoon of NOVEMBER 12, UEF hosted a reception and academic meeting to explore research collaboration opportunities with professors from Germany, including Prof. Marc Oliver Rieger (University of Trier) and Prof. Mei Wang (WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management).
UEF expands international research collaboration with German scholars
The session was attended by Dr. Ngo Minh Hai, UEF Vice President; Prof. Dr. Eric Jose Olmedo Panal, Director of the UEF International Institute and Director of UEF Center Transdisciplinary Research and Innovation; along with leaders of various departments and faculty members engaged in research activities.
UEF representatives presented an overview of the University’s strategic focus on research and innovation
At the beginning of the session, the two visiting professors shared their research journeys, notable scientific contributions, and current academic directions. Prof. Marc Oliver Rieger, a leading expert in Banking and Finance, is highly regarded for work that combines practical application with significant impact in analyzing cultural differences in global financial behavior. Prof. Mei Wang, whose research has been published in prestigious international journals such as Management Science or Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, has made substantial contributions to the body of modern financial knowledge.
The visiting professors from Germany provided detailed insights into their research foundations and highlighted their most significant scholarly contributions
Building on these discussions, UEF faculty had the opportunity to exchange ideas on the University’s key research priorities, particularly in economics, finance, culture, tourism, and innovative entrepreneurship. The professors also offered practical guidance on selecting research topics, implementing methodologies, and developing effective strategies for publishing in reputable academic journals. These insights were considered highly valuable for UEF faculty and researchers, enhancing academic quality while expanding opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with international scholars.
During the discussion segment, participants focused on aligning research priorities between UEF and partner universities in Germany, opening up promising avenues for collaboration. The professors and UEF leadership agreed on the importance of developing joint research projects, organizing international academic conferences, and supporting the publication of research in international journals for UEF’s faculty and early-career researchers.
UEF faculty engage in academic dialogue and explore opportunities for international research collaboration
The session concluded in a spirit of cooperation and openness. The in-depth exchanges promise to open new avenues for UEF’s global knowledge engagement. These international connections will continue to serve as a catalyst for UEF to strengthen its academic excellence, foster a culture of innovative research, and assert its presence on the global higher education map.
