Demonstrating confidence, competence, and academic excellence on a major national stage, UEF students have once again affirmed their research capabilities by winning two Second Prizes at the 2025 Student Science and Technology Awards.
This achievement is a source of pride for the competing teams and also a clear testament to the strong research culture being cultivated at UEF which is one that emphasizes academic rigor, real-world relevance, and positive social impact. Organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the awards evaluate student research across six fields as specified in Circular 45/2020/TT-BGDĐT, serving as a prestigious benchmark for the quality of student research nationwide.
UEF students achieve outstanding success with two Second Prizes at the 2025 Student Science and Technology Awards
In the socio-economic category, the student team from the Faculty of Marketing impressed the judging panel with their project, “Applying Nostalgia Marketing to Create Distinctive Tourism Experiences Along the Saigon River.” Guided by Dr. Nguyen Quang Trung and Ms. Dinh Tran Thuy Vy of the Faculty of Marketing, students Nguyen Diep Nguyen Khang, Tran Quang Huy, Mong Khanh Trang developed a rigorous theoretical framework for nostalgia marketing, standardized their methodology, designed research instruments, and conducted extensive fieldwork along the Saigon River to gather in-depth data. Through multiple rounds of internal review, the team continually refined their model, broadened their perspective on river-based urban tourism experiences, and proposed destination-positioning solutions with practical potential for Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism strategy. This project exemplifies how a student research idea can evolve into a scholarly product with real-world applicability, enriching the “destination narrative” of our city.
In the law–technology category, the student team from the Faculty of Law impressed with their project, “Regulatory Sandboxes in Artificial Intelligence: International Experiences and Policy Recommendations for Vietnam.” Under the supervision of Mr. Nguyen Nam Trung, students Le Dong Han, Pham Le Nhat Minh, Pham Thanh Thao, and Hoang Ngoc Nhu Uyen demonstrated strong empirical legal reasoning and notable interdisciplinary capability.
Approaching the topic through comparative legal analysis, the team reviewed AI regulatory frameworks across multiple countries, identified key criteria for operating a regulatory sandbox, and developed a set of recommendations tailored to the Vietnamese context. Through a disciplined workflow and frequent internal peer-review sessions, the group successfully balanced innovation promotion with risk governance which is an increasingly critical issue in the digital transformation era. Their work shows that UEF students understand the law theoretically and also know how to transform legal principles into practical regulatory tools.
UEF students continue to extend the University’s record of excellence, adding new achievements to a proud tradition celebrated by faculty and the institution alike
The greatest value the competition offers UEF students lies in the rigorous research journey itself: from research design, data collection and analysis, to scientific report writing, defense presentations, and high-intensity teamwork. At every stage, students cultivate academic integrity, evidence-based reasoning, and scholarly communication skills which are core competencies essential for future graduate studies and professional careers. Internal review sessions, dedicated mentorship, and strict research standards create a “real-world environment” where students can test their abilities, build resilience, and grow. Notably, the two winning projects highlight UEF’s interdisciplinary strengths: Marketing intersecting with culture and tourism, and Law integrating with technology and governance. It demonstrates that UEF students possess the capability to address contemporary challenges in urban development and the digital economy.
Today’s success is also the result of UEF’s well-developed research ecosystem which is supported by an experienced faculty team, regular academic seminars, a rigorous review and assessment mechanism, and strong connections with industry and governmental agencies to help translate research outcomes into practice. The university deeply acknowledges the dedication of supervising lecturers, the support of partnering units, and the perseverance of its students.
Congratulations to the student teams from the Faculty of Marketing and the Faculty of Law for achieving Second Prize at the 2025 Student Science and Technology Awards. This milestone reaffirms the scientific research talent of UEF students and provides strong motivation for future generations of UEFers to continue exploring, creating new knowledge, and contributing meaningfully to the community and the nation’s development.
