10/23/2026

The Faculty of International Relations always places emphasis on strengthening connections with diplomatic missions and introducing international perspectives to teaching and learning activities. Building on that direction, the faculty held a ceremony to welcome Ms. Carolina Tinangon, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh, and organized the seminar “Foreign Direct Investment and Strategic Economic Security in ASEAN.”

The seminar allowed students to directly discuss with high representatives and widen their practical perspectives on international relations

Attending the event were Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc, Vice President; Dr. Tran My Hai Loc, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Relations; and many lecturers and students interested in the topic.

Focusing on current regional economic and strategic issues, the seminar provided an academic platform for students to explore high representatives’ perspectives and enrich their viewpoints on issues in the international relations field. Instead of only learning from documents and lectures, they had the opportunity to ask questions directly, listen to the speaker’s insights, and proactively connect specialized knowledge with practice.

The seminar’s content closely relates to a wide range of modules in the curriculum, such as International Political Economy, Sociology, Sea Power, and Diplomatic Practice. The combination of these topics encouraged students to develop multidimensional thinking, critical thinking, argumentation skills, and academic communication skills. This skill package is particularly necessary for learners to develop their professional competence and adapt to the requirements of the International Relations field.

The seminar is the highlight of the activity series “Diplomat's Talks,” organized as part of the 10th anniversary celebration of the Faculty of International Relations at UEF. By connecting with diplomatic missions and integrating practical topics into teaching and learning activities, the Faculty provides students with opportunities to gain exposure to international environments as well as to enhance their autonomy in learning and career development while they are still students.

Furthermore, support from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia helped strengthen the connection between diplomatic activities and higher education.
