UK Minister of State for Indo-Pacific attends the MOA signing ceremony of UEF and UoG

OCTOBER 25 - on the occasion of working visit to Vietnam, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF) was honored to welcome The Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP, UK Minister of State for Indo-Pacific in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and representatives of the British Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City visited the university and congratulated the MOA signing ceremony between University of Gloucestershire - UoG (UK) and UEF. They also attended the Opening Ceremony of the academic year 2023 - 2024 of the International Bachelor’s programmes.

Attending with The Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP were Ms. Emily Hamblin - the Consul General and Mr. Sam Wood - Deputy Consul General, British Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City. From UEF, there were the Board of Directors, Board of Presidents and leaders of units participating in this event.

Within the framework of the program to welcome the UK leadership delegation, Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc - Vice President, Director of the UEF International Institute shared and discussed the strategy of internationalizing education at the present and in the future. UEF's goal is to expand strategic cooperation with UK universities, specifically the University of Gloucestershire (UoG). This action will be executed through various forms such as semesters abroad implementation, double-degree programs, articulation programs, faculty mobility programs, and research collaboration.

"I am delighted to attend the signing ceremony between University of Gloucestershire and Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF) this afternoon. 2023 is a particularly crucial year for the UK - Vietnam relationship - a milestone marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between us. I am very pleased that this signing ceremony will contribute to the development and expansion of international education opportunities in Vietnam, facilitating young people the opportunity to grasp necessary skills to succeed in the future,”  Ms. Anne-Marie Trevelyan delivered the speech at the ceremony.

During this visit to UEF, Ms. Anne-Marie Trevelyan and the British Consulate delegation also visited the facilities, and learning environment of the international collaborative programmes between UEF and UoG.

On the same afternoon, the opening ceremony for the International Bachelor’s programmes also took place with the participation of Dr. Matthew Andrews - UoG Pro Vice-Chancellor Governance and Student Affairs; Mr. Le Thang Loi - Deputy Director, the Southern Center for Education and Training Development, Ministry of Education and Training; and Prof. Gary Giss - Dean of International Programs, Keuka College.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Le Thang Loi recognized the goals, directions, and achievements of UEF's international collaborative programmes. In the new academic year, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training also have directions for the university to continue improving the training quality in the international Bachelor’s programmes.

Dr. Matthew Andrews, representing UoG, also congratulated the freshmen and hoped they would have a successful journey to accessing knowledge.

At the program, the entrance valedictorians, merit scholarship winners, and outstanding IELTS achievers are honored and rewarded. The opening drum ceremony of Prof. Gary Giss also officially commenced a new academic year full of confidence and triumph for the international bachelor’s programmes.

The top-level working visit of the British Secretary of State at UEF has affirmed the good partnership in university-level between the two sides. This working visit of The Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP is essential contributing to strengthening the mutual friendly relationship between Vietnam and the UK.
