APRIL 12, the English Culture Day 2024 was held vibrantly at UEF under the theme "Experiences in the English Speaking World". The diverse and rich activities created a space for cultural exchange, enhancing students' experience and improving English communication skills.
The opening ceremony was attended by a large number of guests, faculty members, lecturers, staff, and students of UEF.

Among the distinguished guests were Ms. Banh Pham Ngoc Van- Director of Education New Zealand, Mr. Truong Chan Sang- Vietnam Youth Federation of Binh Duong Province; Ms. Nguyen Tran Nam Phuong - Director of Nam Phuong English Center in Can Tho, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Director of UK Education, Mr. Charles Price - Founder of IELTS with Charles, Ms. Le Thi Nhung - Director of MCA English Center, Mr. Tran Anh Khang - Founder of IELTS Master - Engonow English Center, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ngan - Representative of Easy Education English Center, Ms. Nguyen Pham Mai Tram - Representative of National Geographic Learning Vietnam, Mr. Andrew Duenas - Representative of Cengage Vietnam Publisher, Ms. Dinh Hang - Traveler, writer, and photographer, and Mr. Mohamad Iadid Ashrai Hassannudin - Lecturer of Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia).

Before kicking off the event with talkshow "Exploring the English Speaking World", Dr. Nhan Cam Tri, Vice President of UEF, emphasized the values of the program for students, helping them acquire knowledge and interesting experiences about the cultures of English-speaking countries while also improving their language skills.

They shared fascinating stories about travel, cultural experiences, cuisine, and studying abroad in countries such as New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada, Malaysia, and the United States, etc. to the students. The key point was the importance of equipping oneself with English language skills to facilitate the understanding and exploration of information about different countries.
The international cultural identities of English-speaking countries were effectively expressed through the poster design contest named "Coloring the English Speaking World". Accordingly, students designed wall newspapers introducing various cultural aspects such as landscapes, costumes, cuisine, tourism, and prominent features of countries that use English as their native language, including the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Philippines, India, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Pakistan, Malta, Malaysia, and South Africa.

Diverse activities, endless exploration
As part of the English Culture Day 2024, the successive gaming activities of “The Culturalists” attracted students with many attractive prizes.
Additionally, in the event hall on the 15th floor of UEF, singing performances and displays of national costumes of English-speaking countries in the 'Stardom Show' took place amidst enthusiastic cheers from UEFers. Each performance vividly portrayed the theme and spirit of the festival. These activities provided students with many new experiences, expanding their knowledge of the cultures of English-speaking countries. Particularly, they helped students recognize the uniqueness of each country through its traditional costumes. Students had the opportunity to showcase their singing talents and performances, further developing their confidence, and public speaking skills.

Ring the Big Ben contest provided the opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge in various fields such as geography, natural sciences, culture, society, entertainment, etc., of English-speaking countries. The format includes watching movies, answering questions based on images, multiple-choice questions, and fill-in-the-blanks. The last contestant remaining is the winner. Chu Hoang Bach, an English Language student, successfully emerged as the victor.

With the "Cultural Guru Contest", teams showcased their understanding of cultural features through situational reenactments, especially emphasizing the importance of adaptation and respect across different nations. Many teams also invested in impressive costumes and cuisine to illustrate their themes. According to the judges, the teams invested thoroughly in their research as well as highlighted distinctive cultural aspects among countries. Additionally, during the evaluation process, the judges actively shared their own cultural experiences and provided valuable information.

With an impressive performance, the Baby Juniors team excellently won "The most impressive stage performance" award and the first prize. The Two Idiots team achieved the second place, while the third prize was awarded to the Teatime Tales, Double trouble, and Girlings teams.

“The activities during the Culture Day were vibrant, engaging, and received enthusiastic participation from many students. We had the opportunity to learn valuable information about studying abroad, English learning methods, and also 'learn while playing' with many fun mini-games," shared Doan Nguyen Kim Khanh- a student majoring in English Language.
The English Culture Day 2024 concluded successfully, creating a dynamic and cohesive environment for students to both experience and enhance their English language skills, as well as to immerse themselves in the distinctive cultures of various countries around the world.
