UEF’s highlights of international activities in 2023

In 2023, UEF has implemented a series of international activities with diverse forms. Namely, providing students with studying abroad opportunities to participate in international semesters to welcoming leaders, lecturers, and students from other countries; developing joint programs, co-teaching… At the same time, UEF has always been expanding further international networks to boost opportunities for students to “go abroad” for internships and career paths. Let’s review some of the most outstanding international activities of UEF in 2023 in this article!

Centering quality and expanding international activities in 2023


UEF works and expands cooperation opportunities with international partners 

Not only 2023 but every year, UEF organizes many visits and meetings with international partners, most of which are educational organizations. In 2023, this number has  increased significantly. After each meeting, UEF gradually introduced one more international friend into its cycle. The handshake between the two sides opened up many opportunities for UEFers to access the international environment through various activities. Thanks to that, in 2023, UEF and its partners organized numerous global programs, enhancing the experience for students. South Korea is the country with the largest number of universities visiting and working with UEF in 2023. Other highlights include the meeting with professors from Wonkwang University; welcoming and working with the Vice President of Keimyung University; meeting and working with representatives of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Daegu Catholic University, Hanyang University…,etc.

UEF also welcomed and exchanged cooperation opportunities with prestigious US universities such as: Webster University, University of Pittsburgh (Pitt), Kettering University, University of Wisconsin - Green Bay (UWGB). Among them, the working session with UWGB led to the signing of a MOU cooperation agreement in the near future.

Moreover, UEF worked with enormous top-leading universities coming from some countries such as: UK, Colombia, Argentina, Japan, China, Taiwan, Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, etc.

UEF holds MOU, MOA signing ceremonies with universities around the world 

Besides signing cooperation agreements with domestic and foreign enterprises to expand internship and employment opportunities for students, UEF also pays great attention to this work and aims to sign with leading educational organizations in the world. In 2023, the number of international partners who signed MOU/MOA with UEF also increased considerably. Among them, some partners continued to renew the agreement after a successful cooperation period. 

To enhance the activities for students pursuing language majors to access the native countries, UEF has searched, worked and signed cooperation agreements with educational institutions such as Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), China, Shandong Normal University, China, Kyungwoon University (Korea), Jeonnam State University (Korea), Jeonju University (Korea), etc.

In October 2023, UEF received a great honor to welcome Ms. Anne - Marie Trevelyan, UK Minister of State (Indo-Pacific), to attend and congratulate the MOA signing ceremony between UEF and the University of Gloucestershire (UK).

Not limited to any region, UEF continuously expands its network of partners around the world. This has been proven through UEF’s successful signing of MOU with Insubria University (Italy), O.P. Jindal Global University (India), renewing MOU with Canada International Bilingual School (BCIS), renewing MOA with Burgundy University (France). On the threshold of the Lunar New Year, UEF made a new breakthrough when organizing a cooperation agreement with 44 universities and accounting training institutes in Indonesia and Malaysia on the same day. These 44 partner units are affiliated with the Association of Indonesian Accounting Lecturers (ADAI). This special handshake of cooperation created a bridge for the lecturers in the fields of accounting, auditing, and finance of UEF to exchange, learn, and improve their professional knowledge from multiple countries while helping UEF make stronger steps in the strategy of internationalizing education.

More than 130 students have been participating in the internship program in Japan

In 2023, the Japan Internship program was implemented for more than 130 students. Respectively, the flights to this land of cherry blossoms took off successfully. Currently, while most students are still in their overseas internship, some have finished and gone back to VN. This is an opportunity for Japanese Language undergraduates to experience the culture of the native country, practice communication skills in Japanese and enhance international competence.

Every month, UEF organizes send-offs full of emotions for students to attend Japan for an internship at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Lecturers from the Center of Corporate Partnerships, UEF International Institute, Faculty of Languages and International Cultures attend every single farewell to give advice and encourage the students.

Welcomes international student delegations to UEF for exchange and connection 

Over the past years, many student delegations from all over the world have chosen UEF as their destination to exchange, connect and learn about Vietnamese culture. Therefore, UEF is always bustling with international exchange activities right at “home”. Coming to UEF, you will have the chance to participate in Campus Tour, City Tour, study and exchange culture with Vietnamese students, enjoy cuisine and participate in interesting folk games. Besides, being a UEFer, you can also listen to national stories and knowledge for international friends.

Students coming from various countries attend UEF to share, exchange, and experience Vietnamese culture

 
UEF welcomes one or two international student delegations to exchange almost monthly. Typically in December, UEF organized exchange sessions with Soonchunhyang University (Korea) and Tampines Meridian Junior College (Singapore). Some other international delegations that have visited UEF for exchange and connection in the past year are Singapore International University, Urawa Daiichi Girls’ High School (Japan), Kyungwoon University (Korea), Dongseo University (Korea), Keimyung University (Korea), Ming Chi University of Technology (Taiwan), Kobe International University (Japan), etc.

Lively student exchange activities
Every year, UEF organizes international student exchange programs. This is one of the activities implemented according to the cooperation agreement with the partners. Accordingly, UEF will send students to partner institutions to live study for a certain period of time, corresponding to specific equivalent courses. At the same time, UEF also welcomes students from partner universities to participate in learning and activities at UEF.
UEFers launched exchanging student programme in China


In February 2023, UEF welcomed some students from France and Germany. In August 2023, the number of international students increased. This time, UEF recorded 15 international students studying at UEF. They came from some countries such as Germany, the UK, France, Denmark, Poland, and China. The students in this international exchange program belonged to UEF’s partner schools such as UPEC - IAE Paris-Est (France), Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University College London (UK), CY Cergy Paris University (France), Guangxi Minzu University (China).


UEF welcome international students coming for learning

To commence the new academic year 2023-2024, UEF took some students to Qufu Normal University and Guangxi University for Nationalities in China to learn and explore the great culture of this very nation.

Semester abroad full of experience continuously implemented
In 2023, UEF International Institute successfully organized an international semester “Social Engagement Training in E-commerce, Marketing and Taiwanese Enterprises” in Taiwan. The program lasted for a month from November 20 to December 19. The learning destination for the students was Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) - one of UEF’s strategic partners.

Thanks to the semester abroad, UEFer could take in various valuable lessons from their international faculty members and friends. Besides, students also enjoyed the opportunity to explore some signature cultural aspects of the beautiful country - Taiwan, visited many renowned destinations which gave them better insights and memories after the trip.

UEFers enhance their overseas experience to improve their competence in the international environment 

With a dynamic and eager-to-learn spirit, UEFers always actively participate in “overseas” trips to study or join the international playgrounds to hone their skills and seek valuable opportunities. In 2023, many international playgrounds marked the contribution of UEF students. They were well-known for their signature - “work hard, play hard”.
The representatives of UEFers who diligently “go abroad” made an impression at some playgrounds such as Global Marketing Exploring in Thailand, the 9th International Student Entrepreneurship Conference in Busan (Korea), the Service Solution Design Competition 2023 in Thailand, especially the internship in Thailand and Cambodia of the students of the Faculty of International Relations.

In addition, long-term international programs from 1 week to 1 month are also organized. This activity creates opportunities for students to learn and experience different countries around the world, as well as have" more time to explore the tourism and culture of those places. The year 2023 was highlighted with 3 programs: Fall Study Program 2023 in Japan, Bridge to Keimyung Camp 2023 in Daegu City (Korea) and International Camp 2023 in Singapore - Malaysia.

Students of the UK bachelor’s programmes graduated with many achievements 

In December 2023, UEF International Institute solemnly organized the Graduation Ceremony and awarded degrees to students of the collaborative programmes with the University of Gloucestershire and Leeds Trinity University, UK. With the acquired knowledge and skills lessons, UEFers will continue their new journey with a valuable international Bachelor’s degree.

This “on-site studying abroad, get an international degree” programme of UEF has received a lot of interest and pursuit from UEFers. Besides the geographical convenience, UEF also provides valuable international resources and a team of experienced foreign lecturers along with spacious, modern facilities with a dynamic and internationally integrated learning environment. Another British bachelor’s course has completed the study programme. The journey ahead is widely open with many opportunities and challenges. With what you have gained in the past 4 years, we believe you will be brave and confident to reach the peak of glory.

To sum up, the international activities at UEF in 2023 were focused on strong  investment and development, creating many outstanding achievements. Accordingly, the opportunity for international integration for students is increasingly expanding. This is also a solid premise for UEF to continue to promote international activities in the new year of 2024.
