02/21/2023
FEBRUARY 20 - As part of a series of cooperating activities to implement a vocational internship program for students, the UEF International Institute in collaboration with the UEF Center of Service-Learning (CSL) organized a training session on event organization for the students from the Bilingual Canadian International School (BCIS).
The activity featured the presence of Ms. Tran Thi My Phuong – Deputy Director; and Ms. Huynh Kim Phung – Project Coordinator, both from the UEF Center of Service-Learning.

BCIS students are instructed on community engagement events

At the beginning of the program, Ms. Huynh Kim Phung – Project Coordinator, Center of Service-Learning introduced BCIS students to the functions and vision of the Center. Accordingly, the Center establishes partnerships among the university, the community, and other stakeholders, to promote community engagement events, and to encourage students to practice transferable skills, practical thinking, and civic responsibility, thereby contributing to sustainable socio-economic development. Thus, the Center of Service-Learning helps graduates to be equipped with practical and dynamic working skills, awareness of civic responsibility to the locality, an international vision and grasp of current social-economic issues.

Students focused on 3 factors: respect, perseverance, and attentiveness

To show the dynamic spirit of the integrated young generation, BCISers participated in the first activity "Draw yourself - Who am I?". BCISers drew a self-portrait, which demonstrated the phrases "I am, I have, I believe, I need, I want, I think, I feel".
Subsequently, through the activity of drawing the "Tree of Expectations", the Center of Service-Learning helped BCISers concretize their goals. At the roots, BCIS students wrote down the attitudes, skills, and experiences that they would bring to the program. The trunk included the principles of teamwork required in the program. The branch represented what they wanted to achieve after the program. In the end, fruit was the long-term goal they strived for.
After the meeting, BCIS students had the opportunity to sit down and share their feelings about the Center of Service-Learning and UEF. Accordingly, they had the opportunity to get to know many new friends with various personalities, and learn more about each other to stimulate the teamwork process. In addition, BCISers also expressed their surprise and love for the UEF's Gym area. The members of the delegation were all very delighted to participate in the useful and energetic activities of the UEF Center of Service-Learning.

FEBRUARY 21 - BCIS students built a plan together to organize a Mini game at UEF. Two topics to be considered this time were "Happy International Women's Day - March 8" or "UEFers for conclusion". Ms. Tran Thi My Phuong together with BCISers divided specific tasks before "running" the project such as ideation, plan, timelines, poster design, content writing, goal setting, checklists, demonstration runs, etc.
On the same day, BCIS students listened to career counseling in Business Administration, Marketing, etc... from Mr. Luu Hoang Thien Minh – Faculty member, UEF International Institute to acquire essential knowledge before entering the university in the future.
