UEF students learn about the inner workings of stock market through workshops

On April 18, 2015, the Faculty of Finance and Accounting,(UEF), successfully organized a student workshop on the theme of “Vietnam’s Stock Market - Market Orientation and Investment Strategies”

In the context of major changes in the stock market related to reforms of regulations and activities in the field of investment as well as positive shifts in the common market, the workshop became more practical and beneficial. The workshop as an important extracurricular lesson appealed to numerous UEF students.
 

 
Addressing the opening workshop, Mr. Nguyen Tien Hung, Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, asserted, “The Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance is faithful to its mission of high quality training. Therefore, in addition to the theory gained at UEF, students are provided with opportunities to participate in extracurricular seminars related to their major subjects and today’s socio-economic conditions. The workshop organized by the Faculty of Finance and Accounting in coordination with the representative office of the State Securities Commission of Vietnam is one of the activities that help students to supplement their practical knowledge, gain invaluable experience from “predecessors”, and be well prepared for success in the future”
 

The importance and necessity of the workshop was promoted by the attendance and assistance of experts in the securities field such as Deputy Minister Tran Tuan Anh – Deputy Director of the representative office of the State Securities Commission in HCMC; Mr. Ngo Quoc Khanh – a specialist of the representative office of the State Securities Committee in HCMC; Mr. Tong Van Thuy – Sales Director of FPT Securities Joint Stock Company. Therefore, UEF students, especially those specialized in Finance, were able to not only learn but also have more opportunities of getting practical experience from these prestigious speakers. Thanks to their constructive suggestions, UEF students put good questions relevant to the securities field and received sincere feedback.
 

Through thematic talks, students were provided with more comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of investment information and securities transactions. Especially, the guidance on how to open a stock trading account attracted the attention of “potential investors” – UEF students, helping them explore many practical activities in the stock market.
 

The workshop created a useful playground for UEF students majoring in finance in particular, and UEF students of economics in general, contributing to forming a solid base for those students who have chosen the securities field to start a business in the future.
