UEF and MILA lecturers Co-delivered the joint lecture
The session was co-led by Ms. Tran Ngoc Thanh, lecturer from the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, and Ms. Nurul Shafina binti Khairudin, lecturer from MILA University. With thorough preparation and an enthusiastic learning atmosphere, the class created an academically rich environment for knowledge exchange and cross-cultural connection.
During the session, students explored key topics such as the structure of the financial system, classifications of financial markets and institutions, and the role each component plays in the modern financial ecosystem. Notably, the concept of a "financial system" was introduced as a capital-mobilizing network — a mechanism that channels idle funds from surplus units to those in need of capital within the economy.
Key content shared during the lecture
The session vividly presented various types of financial markets, including primary and secondary markets, centralized and decentralized markets, debt and equity markets, as well as money and capital markets. These distinctions helped students gain a clearer understanding of the role each component plays in the operation of the financial system.
In parallel, financial institutions such as banks, insurance companies, and investment funds were thoroughly analyzed from the perspective of financial intermediaries. Their functions in capital mobilization and allocation, risk management, and liquidity provision were highlighted. These institutions were described as “key players” that hold vital roles in maintaining the stability and development of financial markets.
Beyond technical knowledge, the joint lecture also provided a valuable opportunity for students from both universities to sharpen their critical thinking, experience an international academic environment, and enhance their global networking skills. The program also reinforced the strong partnership between UEF and MILA University, paving the way for further international cooperation and development opportunities for students in the future.
