International Relations Students Join Academic Exchange with U.S. Consulate

MAY 14, the UEF Faculty of International Relations welcomed representatives from the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City for an academic sharing session themed “Celebrating 250 Years of the Founding of the Nation.” The program provided students with valuable opportunities to explore diverse academic and international perspectives on the history and development of the United States. 

On behalf of the guest delegation were Ms. Cydney Garder Brown, Consular Officer, and Ms. Nguyen Tran, Public Engagement Specialist from the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. Representing UEF were Dr. Nhan Cam Tri, Vice President; Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc, Vice President; Dr. Tran My Hai Loc, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, along with lecturers and students from the Faculty.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc emphasized that international activities and academic sharing sessions such as this not only enhance students’ disciplinary knowledge but also contribute to shaping a global mindset, multidimensional thinking, and the spirit of “thinking beyond borders” in the context of increasingly deep international integration.

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States (July 4, 1776 – July 4, 2026), Ms. Cydney Garder Brown focused her presentation on the formation and development of the United States through key historical periods.

During the session, representatives from the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City shared valuable insights into major historical milestones, social transformations in the United States, and the country’s role within the modern international landscape.

The event continued in an open atmosphere through discussions and Q&A sessions between students and the speakers. Many questions centered around the historical foundations of the United States, factors contributing to its development, and the country’s transformation in the context of globalization. Therefore, International Relations students had the opportunity to broaden their academic knowledge, strengthen multidimensional thinking, and deepen their understanding of global issues.

The program provided students with meaningful international academic experiences and valuable knowledge. Through this activity, the Faculty of International Relations created an environment that encourages students to proactively connect, expand their understanding of international history, and prepare themselves for future professional environments.
