Expanding international connections, UEF welcomes leaders of Myitkyina University (Myanmar)

JULY 27 – This morning, UEF held a meeting to work with a delegation from Myitkyina University (Myanmar), initiating the first discussion on collaboration opportunities in training, academic exchange, lecturer and student exchange, as well as international internships.

The meeting contributed to the university’s expansion of its international network, aiming at diversifying destinations for UEF students’ study and experience in the future.

Encouraging communication to seek mutual interests in international collaboration

Attending the meeting, on behalf of UEF, were Dr. Phan Bảo Giang – Vice President, Dr. Lý Thiên Trang – Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation, Dr. Majo George – Dean of Faculty of Economics, Dr. Hà Thị Thủy – Dean of Faculty of Finance and Accounting, Ms. Hà Lê Thu Hoài – Deputy Director of Center of Project Design Education, and representatives responsible for international collaboration activities of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH).

Representing Myitkyina University were Prof. Dr. Soe Moe Lwin – Rector, Prof. Dr. Zayar Lin – Head and Professor Department of Geology, Prof. Dr. Chaw Ei Man - Professor Department of Law, Prof. Dr. Cho Cho Thet – Professor, Department of Physics, and Secretary of International Relations Office.

During the meeting, representatives from both universities each gave an overview of their development orientation and international cooperation strategies. This sharing has laid a foundation for the two universities to acknowledge their similarities, based on which they will further discuss collaboration schemes that are suitable for their own strengths and demands.

Aiming at diversifying international study and experience

The two universities are mutually interested in the ability to launch field trip programs for students of UEF and Myitkyina University. Activities such as the international exchange semester and cultural and academic exchange are expected to provide students with opportunities to experience new learning environments, broaden their cultural knowledge, and enhance their ability to adapt to multinational environments.

Moreover, lecture and student exchange programs are also discussed. This cooperation direction can foster professional connections and offer them opportunities to widen their knowledge and share their experience as well as get used to multi-dimensional perspectives in training and research.

Internship abroad for students is another highlight of the meeting. If successfully conducted, these programs will open up a space where students can practice their profession, which allows them to accumulate practical experience, enhance their ability to work in an international environment, and better prepare themselves for a postgraduate career.

Building the foundation for the upcoming cooperation programs

The strategies proposed at the meeting suggest a mutual aspiration in promoting practical educational activities that consider learner experience as one of the core subjects. For UEF students, varying global destinations means more opportunities to step out of the classroom and actively explore new cultures and learning environments.  

During the trip, the delegation from Myitkyina University paid a visit to EUF facilities, through which they had a more visual perspective of the learning environment, training space, and facilities for supporting academic activities at the host university.

The meeting took place in an open atmosphere with various contents discussed practically in detail. On the basis of what was agreed on in terms of orientation, both sides will continue building detailed plans to implement the programs step by step in the near future.
