AUGUST 12, Aiming to expand its international partnership network, strengthen connections with the business community, and create more global learning and experiential opportunities for students, UEF welcomed and held a working session with Mr. Andreas Jahn, President of BVMW International GmbH, Member of the Federal Executive Board, and Secretary General of the SME Alliance for Africa and Latin America.
UEF representatives attending the meeting included Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc—Vice President; Dr. Ngo Minh Hai—Vice President; and Prof. Dr. Eric Omedo Panal—Director of the UEF International Institute.
The working session expands opportunities for educational connections and corporate cooperation in Germany.
At the meeting, Mr. Andreas Jahn introduced Der Mittelstand BVMW e.V.—the association representing the interests of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across various sectors in Germany. With approximately 3.3 million SMEs, this sector is considered one of the crucial driving forces of the German economy. BVMW also possesses a network operating in 95 countries, creating a favorable platform to connect German businesses with international partners.
Based on the strengths and networks of both sides, Mr. Andreas Jahn proposed several directions for cooperation between BVMW and UEF. In the fields of education and research, the two parties can coordinate to develop training programs, especially in business administration, economics, international trade, and entrepreneurship. Simultaneously, they can implement joint research projects on issues of mutual interest such as globalization, sustainable business, and digital transformation.
Mr. Andreas Jahn listened to the overview presentation of UEF.
International internships and exchanges were also a focal point. Through its network of German SMEs, BVMW can assist in connecting UEF students with member companies to participate in internships, accumulating experience in an international environment. The two sides can also explore implementing exchange programs or study tours, helping students learn about the business practices and cultures of both nations.
On UEF's side, the university's representatives proposed that BVMW International GmbH act as a bridge connecting UEF with universities in Germany, thereby expanding international cooperative programs such as student exchanges, international semesters, and academic activities. Furthermore, BVMW's German business network is expected to open up additional opportunities for developing international internship programs, helping UEF students access real-world working environments and enhance their professional capabilities in the context of global integration.
Representatives of both sides discussed potential cooperative connections.
The two parties also discussed the possibility of organizing joint conferences, business forums, workshops, and training programs focusing on topics such as digital transformation, innovation, leadership, and industry-specific issues. These efforts will also aim at activities that promote trade, investment, and innovation between Vietnam and Germany.
Notably, Mr. Andreas Jahn stated that in his role as president of BVMW International GmbH, he could serve as a bridge to promote relations between the German business community and partners in various countries. In the cooperative orientation with UEF, it was proposed that he take on the role of UEF's Global Ambassador, focusing on strengthening corporate relations, creating opportunities for students to access the professional world, and promoting academic and economic ties between Vietnam and BVMW's international network.
The working session opens up numerous practical collaborative avenues between UEF and the German SME community. Built upon BVMW's international network and UEF's educational internationalization orientation, both parties have ample room to continue materializing cooperative programs in training, research, student exchange, international internships, and corporate connections, contributing to providing more global academic and professional experiences for students.
