UEF faculty and staff receive internationally standardized higher education pedagogy

UEF training programs aiming to upgrade knowledge and skills of the university faculty and staff have been emphasized.

NOVEMBER 14-16, UEF International Institute in collaboration with the University Office successfully held an internationally standardized higher education pedagogy with the on “Advanced Higher Education Fellowship Scheme”. It was an opportunity for faculty and staff to proceed toward the Advanced Higher Education scholarship from the UK. Participants learned many interesting and valuable teaching methods from University of Gloucestershire (UoG) experts, UK.


Another valuable international training course for UEF faculty members

Prof. Jenny Hill – Head of the Teaching and Learning Innovation, Academic Development Unit, University of Gloucestershire, and Dr. Ruffin Relja — Senior Lecturer in  Marketing, were the two main speakers in this training programme. Particularly, Prof. Jenny Hill was in charge of training UEF faculty members in person and Dr. Ruffin Relja was the supervisor and counsellor for the course via online platforms.

Accompanying this special training program includes Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc – Vice President, and Director, UEF International Institute; Ms. Tran Phuong Quynh along with Dr. Nguyen Hong Nhung – Deputy Directors,  UEF International Institute and other UEF faculty and staff.

The course, which is updated based on the leading universities standardized teaching methods, especially UoG. It covers 7 main topics: Introduction; Pedagogies; Writing Reflexively; Learning Design; Teaching and Supporting Learning; Assessment; Supporting Statements. In the first session, Prof. Jenny Hill gave a detailed presentation on postgraduate scholarships in the UK and outlined the reasons that lecturers should apply for this valuable scholarship.

Through 4 sessions covering 7 topics with extensive group activities, the UEF faculty members have fruitfully garnered various applicable teaching methodologies at UEF. They were all eagerly and positively engaging in discussions with speakers and colleagues.

Completing the course, Ms. Pham Thi Tam – Faculty of Business Administration member shared: “This was a highly professional training program which was delivered by experienced international experts. The benefits gained from this course will be incorporated into my teaching in the future. I was also fascinated by the interactive discussions with the speaker and other colleagues in each session”.

Continuing Ms. Tam, Mr. Phan Duy Hien -  also a member from the Faculty of Business Administration expressed: “It is all new territory for inexperienced lecturers, myself included. I’ve been exposed to international experts’ theories and “bizarre” lesson plans for the first time. Moreover, I have a chance to listen and learn from colleagues’ sharing and discussion. To strengthen my profession, I think I should pay attention to other related courses for self-improvement and upgrade”.

The lecturers were awarded certificates of completion of the UoG training program at the end of the course. UEF faculty and staff are believed to research and apply all the things learned from international experts in their teaching work effectively. The UEF will always seek cooperation opportunities and hold various training programs for lecturers in the upcoming years.
