UEFers immerse in Korean language and culture at Hangeul Festival

As a practical academic festival, South Korea Hangul Day aims to honor the beauty of the Korean alphabet and provides students with an opportunity to learn further about Korean and its culture as well as to self-demonstrate ion of  their talents and personal identity.
Seizing this chance, UEF’s Faculty of Languages and International Cultures facilitated Korean Language majors to participate and experience.



UEFers were cheerful at Hangeul festival
 
The students were accompanied by Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Linh – Deputy Dean, Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, and Korean Language lecturers. Besides UEFers, the festival was attended by a large number of students from other different universities and colleges running Korean curriculum in the Southern region.


K-Pop-style public performance
At the festival, UEFers revealed their talents in many competitions and activities from to academic to cultural, musical, culinary, and so forth. Competition categories included the Korean alphabet contest; Quiz show: Ring the Golden Bell; Hanbok Design and Fashion show; K-Star concert; Random Dance contest; food stalls, not to mention Camp Experience Contest, where UEFers took home the Consolation prize.


 
 The contests brought students experiences of the land of Kimchi such as the culture, cuisine, costumes, and so forth

Hangeul is known as the most logical and scientific writing system in the world. As one of the national holidays in the land of Kimchi, the anniversary of the creation of the Korean alphabet is celebrated with manifold meaningful activities.

The festival has become a bridge for students to experience the learning environment while engaging in practical and valuable exchange activities. Therefore, not only can students enhance their language skills, but also can expand their network and discover many other aspects of Korea as well.
