Surpassing a host of strong contenders from the Southern region, Le Thi Mai Thao – a third-year student majoring in Korean Language – has excelled in winning First Prize at the Southern Semifinal of the 2025 National Korean Speaking Contest – Ambassador’s Cup. This outstanding achievement secures her a spot in the upcoming National Final, scheduled for October.

The Southern Semifinal took place on August 2, gathering many outstanding contestants from universities across the region. Choosing the theme “An Event That Left a Lasting Impression on Me”, Mai Thao told the story of the military parade in Ho Chi Minh City marking the 50th anniversary of the nation’s reunification.
Her presentation in Korean was highly praised for her fluent language skills, emotionally rich and insightful content delivery, and meaningful message. “My speech aimed to honor the Vietnamese community’s culture and emphasize the value of unity and peace. I chose a story close to reality, which was also a very memorable personal experience for me,” she shared.
A speech rich in meaning and heartfelt messages
Behind Mai Thao’s success lies a period of rigorous practice and the dedicated support from the faculty of the Korean Language program under the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, especially Dr. Bui Thi My Linh – who directly guided and provided feedback on her speech. With only 15 days to prepare, she made the most of every moment to practice, improve her pronunciation, and refine her stage presence.

This achievement adds to the proud list of national-level academic competition successes by UEFers. It reflects not only the student’s individual effort but also the university’s commitment to quality training and its well-structured investment in developing language proficiency, critical thinking, and integration skills. “Presentations, group activities, and opportunities to participate in events and competitions at school have trained me to be confident and equipped me with essential skills. I’m truly grateful for that,” Mai Thao noted.

With her First Prize at the Semifinal, Mai Thao will be among the Southern region’s representatives competing in the National Final. Speaking about her upcoming journey, she shared her plan to prepare a fresh, emotional, and inspiring speech. “I’m determined to give my all to bring pride to UEF. I believe that with effort and perseverance, I will continue to make my mark in the upcoming round,” she affirmed with confidence.
Mai Thao’s achievement serves as a strong source of motivation and inspiration for UEFers.
