Exchange students to Korea equipped with details before “going abroad”

08/15/2022
After the session “Learn about the Korean Student Mobility Program” in late April, many UEFers signed up with the desire to study and experience the Land of Kimchi. On the morning of August 12, 6 selected students had a meeting with their instructors to get advice and information before participating in the “Korean Student Mobility Program”, which takes place at the end of August.

Accompanying the students were Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Linh – Deputy Dean, Faculty of Languages & International Cultures, and Ms. Huynh Tu Anh – Deputy Director, UEF International Institute.

Students received information about the program before starting their study abroad

This mobility program will take place at 3 Korean universities, namely Chungbuk National University, Keimyung University, and Busan University of Foreign Studies. Nguyen Tuan Huy, Nguyen Tran Ha Phuong, Diep Boi Linh, Nguyen Xuan Diep, Nguyen Hoai Nam, and Pham Tran Anh Thu are students enrolling in the program. They will have a 1-year study from September 2022 to August 2023.

At the meeting, Ms. Huynh Tu Anh shared information about the study program as well as informed the students about the flight schedule, flight precautions, luggage packing, clothing, documents, personal belongings, emergency contact information (in Vietnam and Korea), etc.

Being the first-batch students of this mobility program of the Korean Language major, these students were also given advice from Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Linh on other aspects such as culture, etiquette, costumes, communication, knowledge acquisition, etc.

The exchange students were carefully advised by Ms. Thuy Linh and Ms. Tu Anh about many aspects

Regarding this study trip, Diep Boi Linh said: “I am delighted to be able to participate in the international semester because I have been interested in studying in Korea since grade 9. That is also the reason why I registered for this major and seized this opportunity as soon as I heard the announcement. In the process of studying, I want to improve myself more, so I participated in several competitions and fortunately I accomplished some achievements. In this student mobility program, I have a chance to interact with Koreans, so I think my language skills will be improved. Moreover, I can make many new friends, create bonds and acquire new knowledge about Korean culture and society."

Diep Boi Linh is a remarkable name regarding academic activities and competitions majoring in the Korean Language

“I feel very excited and can't wait to come to Korea. I have been preparing mentally for quite a while because I knew that there would be this program beforehand. During my time studying at the university, the lecturers taught us a lot about culture, society, or how to communicate with Koreans. I also watched many Korean movies, so I think I will be able to integrate in no time. The most important thing for me is that I need to have solid knowledge, good listening skills, and flexibility in handling situations to be able to study well in the upcoming new environment,” shared his thoughts Nguyen Tuan Huy.

Nguyen Tuan Huy expressed his eagerness for the exchange program at the end of August

The student mobility program attracts not only UEF students but also students from other universities, such as HUTECH, USSH, etc together with international students from many countries. Participating in this program, UEFers can broaden their mind about the Korean language, culture, society, and have chances to meet and exchange with international students as well.

The international student exchange program is an annual activity that provides UEFers with access to the innovative educational environment in countries associated with the major they are currently pursuing. From the experience accumulated in these overseas trips, students will gain more confidence to integrate, and have advantages in foreign languages and expertise for their future career paths.
