Four additional UEFers head to Japan, expanding international intern list in 2024

04/08/2024

In recent years, UEF has strongly promoted paid internships for students to foreign enterprises. These opportunities not only serve as a chance to enhance language skills and professional expertise but also enable UEFers to gain practical experience, develop skills, and deepen their understanding of different cultures.

APRIL 7, in line with this spirit, the Faculty of Languages and International Culture, in collaboration with the Center of Corporate Partnerships, continued to send an additional 4 students to join a year-long internship program in Japan. It also marks the 42nd occasion where UEF has collaborated with partner organizations to provide internship abroad opportunities for UEFers.

Four additional UEFers “go abroad” for internship

Four students participating in the internship program are from the 2020 cohort of the Japanese Language: Nguyen Thi Thao Ngan, Le Thao Gia Quyen, Nguyen Dang Hai Quynh, and Le Nguyen Thuy Vy. Throughout this trip, they will engage in an internship at Tsurunoyu Onsen. Before their departure, a mix of excitement and nervousness about the changes that come with venturing into an unfamiliar place was evident on their faces.

Mr. Huynh Quoc Phong - Director, Center of Corporate Partnerships encouraged both parents and the four students at the airport. Currently, a considerable number of UEF students are undertaking internships in Japan, with some demonstrating significant progress upon completion. Mr. Phong emphasized that in implementing this program, the university has carefully considered various factors, ensuring students’ rights and living conditions are prioritized. He also stressed the importance of compassion and empathy while studying in a foreign land.

"For students majoring in languages, gaining knowledge in classrooms and lecture halls is crucial for their personal development. However, it is not a sufficient condition. Hence, undergoing an internship in a native country is undoubtedly essential to equip oneself solidly for personal and professional growth, as well as for life itself”, Mr. Huynh Quoc Phong added.

Mr. Huynh Quoc Phong encouraged and advised students and their families

Additionally, he also provided advice to students on key points to "impress" their Japanese partners. Among these, punctuality, strict adherence to company regulations, as well as frequent communication in Japanese to enhance language proficiency were particularly emphasized.

Upon returning from their overseas internships, UEF students demonstrate noticeable maturity. In international environments, they not only refine their language skills but also develop various Industry 4.0 competencies.

The student group has officially embarked on their journey with the trust and enthusiasm of youth, accompanied by support from both the university and their families. It is hoped that they will seize this opportunity to accumulate knowledge and essential skills for self-improvement. Wishing all UEFers the best in successfully completing their internships and gaining wonderful experiences in Japan.
