MAY 21, the U.S. student delegation continued their series of practical activities with a visit to Tan Cang Cat Lai Port and Ben Thanh Market - two destinations rich in economic and cultural characteristics of the Ho Chi Minh City area.

Exciting experiences at the end of the journey

From Cat Lai, Discovering Vietnam's Logistics "Lifeline"

At Tan Cang Cat Lai Port —one of the largest and most modern container ports in the Southern region —the Pittsburgh student delegation gained direct access to the operational model of a logistics enterprise, grasping the system of operation, supply chain management, as well as technological applications in import-export activities.

The company representative provided an overview of Cat Lai's scale, operational areas, and main services, while also answering questions from international students about the operational process, control systems, and security in logistics. With a proactive learning spirit, Pittsburgh students paid close attention, took notes, actively engaged in discussions, and compared it with the logistics model in the U.S., thereby expanding their knowledge and practical perspectives.

Directly visiting the port, witnessing large ships docking, immense cargo and container areas, along with automated loading and unloading processes, helped the students gain a clearer understanding of a crucial link in Vietnam's global trade flow.

Feeling the breath of culture and economy in Ben Thanh Market

In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation continued their journey to Ben Thanh Market - a long-standing iconic landmark of Ho Chi Minh City. International students experienced the bustling shopping atmosphere, directly observed and selected exquisite handicrafts and souvenirs imbued with Vietnamese identity.

In addition to sightseeing, the students also enjoyed many characteristic dishes of Vietnamese cuisine, experiencing flavors not easily found anywhere else in the world. This was both a cultural experience and an opportunity for American students to understand and deeply feel the hospitable, friendly, and always ready-to-share Vietnamese people.

Previously, the delegation also had the opportunity to explore Ho Chi Minh City from a new perspective with a waterbus trip from Bach Dang Wharf. This activity brought a gentle, relaxed feeling amidst the modern flow of the city.

The trips at the end of the journey helped the students gain more practical knowledge about the Vietnamese business market , facilitating expanded connections, enriching their life experiences, and leaving beautiful impressions of the country and its people.

Although the journey is coming to an end, the values and emotions gained throughout the trip will linger as a memorable part of their academic youth and their journey to becoming global citizens from the United States.
