International Camp 2023: Conclusion to the Singapore-Malaysia field trip

The International Camp 2023 trip came to a close after a truly remarkable experience of learning and cultural exchange in Singapore and Malaysia. The final days of the program featured exciting academic activities at the Open University of Malaysia (OUM), where the students had the opportunity to meet and interact with foreign speakers to acquire knowledge and gain more advanced learning methods.

On the fourth day, the topic of academic exchange was "Application of Technology and Techniques in Distance Education and Online Learning."

During the first speech session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shishi Kumar Piaralal – Director, OUM Graduate Center, discussed the "10 Skills to Enhance Online Learning Effectiveness" that allowed students to leverage more tools and effective approaches for learning and researching, especially in the context of online learning becoming increasingly relevant.
 

Learning through play, UEFers experience novel technologies from different countries


Several speakers, including Prof., Dr. Santhi Raghavan – General Manager (Learner Experience and Technology), Assoc. Prof., Dr. Shishi Kumar Piaralal, Director, OUM Graduate Center, and Prof., Dr. Yon Rosli Bin Daud – General Manager (Business Ventures), shared their expertise on the application of technology and techniques in higher education and distance learning. They discussed how online programs are flexible to study without limiting their location, time, and geography. Students benefited from these discussions, gaining precious ideas on the application of technology in education.
 

The trip tightened relationship between UEF and foreign partner, opening up new opportunities for UEFers


The interaction between UEFers and speakers was vibrant, with students asking many questions, exchanging ideas, and sharing experiences. This created an atmosphere of a lively academic discussion. Not only did the students learn from the speakers, but they also learned from each other, promoting the integration of these concepts in practical learning and research.

The last day of the camp marked the successful conclusion of the trip, with UEF students receiving certificates. The international camp to Malaysia and Singapore was officially over, leaving UEF with many cherished memories.

The International Camp 2023 had successfully won UEFers’ heart for being an extremely inspiring journey of learning through culture exchange. The program brought lasting memories to UEF students, where they visited iconic landmarks in Singapore, experienced technology at Amazon Web Services headquarters, and attended academic discussions at OUM in Malaysia. The students were able to broaden their knowledge, hone their skills, and foster strong relationships with international students, experts, and alumni.
