UEF, Tongmyong University (Korea): Door open to new cooperation programs

MARCH 24 - UEF had a meeting with Tongmyong University to develop a Korean standard undergraduate program, providing various learning opportunities and worldwide experiences for Korean Language students in particular and all UEFers in general.
Attending the session, on behalf of Tongmyong University, there was the presence of Mr. Lee Sangwoo – Manager of The International Affairs Team, Mr. Dennis Kim – Manager of The Overseas Employment Department, and Mr. Joong-Rak Kweon – Dean of The Office of International Affairs.

In addition, Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc – Vice President & Director of the UEF International Institute; Dr. Ly Thien Trang – Vice President of the University; Ms. Huynh Tu Anh - Deputy Director of the UEF International Institute; Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Linh – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Linguistics & International Cultures, represented UEF.
During the session, Mr. Joong-Rak Kweon, the representative of Tongmyong University, gave an overview of the university and discussed the 2+ (1+1) program in cooperation with UEF.

Tongmyong University wished to cooperate with UEF to develop a high-quality undergraduate program
UEFers can spend the first two years in Vietnam under the curriculum of UEF. In the third year, they will study with Korean lecturers from Tongmyong University, and then settle in Korea in the fourth year.
Issues such as student visa and UEFers’ aspirations to study in Korea were also discussed at the meeting.
From UEF, Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc believed that the curriculum was a good fit for Korean Language students, yet more detailed discussions were needed before signing an agreement.

Representatives of the two universities presented gifts and expressed their gratitude
Besides, Dr. Ly Thien Trang put a strong focus on the work-integrated learning program, a prominent strength of Tongmyong University, and wished Tongmyong students could visit UEF and participate in a variety of interesting events.

Hopefully, UEF and Tongmyong University will soon reach a consensus on their first-rated international program and offer students many practical activities in the future.
