A cultural - tourist - culinary journey: Welcoming Singaporean students to UEF

NOVEMBER 8 - A delegation of faculty members and students from Temasek Polytechnic Singapore arrived in Vietnam on the journey of cultural discovery from different countries and attended a cultural exchange session with UEF students. “A Culture Exchange UEF & Temasek Students” programme is an opportunity for students to learn about the countries, cultures, and people, as well as to connect friendships between students from countries in the Southeast Asian region.

Attended by Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc - Vice President and Director, UEF International Institute; Dr. Ngo Minh Hai - Vice President and Dean, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management; Ms. Ha Le Thu Hoai - Deputy Director,  Center of Project Design Education; Mr. Nguyen Viet Thuy - Deputy Dean, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thoai - Deputy Dean, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management; Mr. Tran Dinh Tuan - Head, Tourism and Travel Services Management; and faculty members and students from UEF.

The representatives of Temasek Polytechnic Singapore were Ms. Valerie Mok Mui Whay, Mr. Kor Chan Chiong, and 24 multiple nationalities students from this educational system.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Singaporean students toured around UEF under the guidance of UEFers, and were impressed with the facilities here. Besides the photos, the students from the Lion City also learned more about the unique features of UEF through the introductions of the student tour guides.
 





Singapore students visited UEF campus

The most exciting part of the Culture Exchange session was discovering about cultures between the two countries. Singaporean students were very excited to hear about the unique features of Vietnamese culture, tourism, history, music, art, and cuisine.

In the lively and enthusiastic atmosphere, students from the two universities quickly immersed themselves in the special musical performances. Each song was sung with a clear, gentle voice, connecting kindred spirits. In addition, during the meet-up, UEF students brought a unique series of  Vietnamese traditional folk games such as cheraw dance, dance to the music, and blowing balloons blowing creating a joyful and intimate atmosphere for students from the two universities.

During the program, Singaporean students also had the opportunity to taste and make their own iced milk coffee, fruit spring rolls, and drinks under the guidance of UEF's barista experts. Besides, UEFers also tried the signature Singaporean pastry - Kaya Toast.  








Energetic exchange filled with engaging activities

Exploring each other's cultures through questions about daily life, customs, cuisine, language, etc. opened up a meaningful opportunity for connection with valuable knowledge. Additionally, lecturers and students from both institutions could exchange their initial thoughts, aspirations, and insights about their journey to Vietnam.

The cultural exchange concluded with precious  positive memories. The program helped students exchange knowledge, immerse themselves in diverse cultures, and establish enduring relationships. This event also played a crucial role in promoting international cooperation and driving innovation in UEF's education. This hopefully serves as a foundation for fostering long-term collaborative ventures, enabling students from both institutions to learn and grow in an international environment.
