Through student mobility and international articulation programs, UEF, as an international institution, empowers its students to pursue their academic interests abroad and welcomes numerous international students from various nations, including France, Iraq, Korea, and Laos, among others. UEF has recently welcomed a French student to its campus after the pandemic. Let's hear some of her first thoughts on studying at UEF.

Roxane Hébert, an exchange student majoring in Marketing at UEF, shared her thoughts: "When I choose to apply for an exchange program with my university in France, I was offered a list of 15 universities in different countries. I really wanted to visit Southern-Asia for a long time and there were 2 universities on the list in Vietnam. I contacted UEF by email to get information about the courses and I had a very clear and fast answer, everyone I talked to was helpful and kind so I decided to apply."

The cultural differences between France and Vietnam initially made Roxane confused. Loneliness, language barriers, traffic, and culture shock were big obstacles when she first came to Asia. However, the hospitality and enthusiastic support from Vietnamese people helped her overcome these challenges and now she is well-adapted.

“I met a lot of people very helpful, i found a room in a living flat with 2 vietnamese girls very kind and I experienced vietnamese culture a lot : food, visit of beautiful pagodas and cities. Regarding my learning environment at UEF, I have been very welcomed by teachers, students, and staff of international relations. Everyone has been trying to make me comfortable. In my classes of Marketing Management, Sociology and Business Ethics, the teachers asked me a lot of questions about France on course-related topics, and it was a pleasure for me to share my experience and the differences I saw between my country and Vietnam. I would like to thank UEF that gave me the opportunity to visit Vietnam that i do enjoy a lot." - Roxane added.

Regarding the impression of UEFers, Roxane recounted the story of having a short conversation with two female friends earlier. They introduced themselves, and gave her information about UEF and Vietnam. In particular, Roxane said that she has made a lot of UEF friends and gotten their help as well. She also was excited when going out to eat and singing karaoke with her friends.

As regards UEF’s curricula, Roxane expressed: The program of my classes was interesting and I learnt a lot of things. Sociology was the class i enjoyed the most. Something I was surprised about was all the events that you set up for the students, which create a real cohesion between them.

Roxane, experiencing the UEF’s learning environment, happily shared: In my university in France, teachers are more stricts regarding the ponctuality because we don’t have to wait to take the elevators. My school only have 4 floors aha. Then, we have a lot of classes in amphitheatre with 100 students while we were at most 30 in UEF.

Roxane Hébert has become accustomed to UEF’s learning environment and has gradually gained a better understanding of UEF and the students. Hopefully, after finishing her exchange program, she will have unforgettable memories of UEF and Vietnam as a whole.
