UEF honourably welcomes the UK’s Minister of State for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office

On Jan 3, 2019, UEF had the honour to welcome The Right Honourable Mark Field MP - Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office of the UK, and Mr. Ian Gibbons - Her Majesty’s Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City, to the university campus on their visit to Vietnam.




UEF’s leaders, staff, lecturers and students had a formal welcoming ceremony for the Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office of the UK

 
On this special occasion, the Rt Hon. Mark Field MP visited the campus facilities and learning environment, and was the main speaker of a seminar for the students of the University of Gloucestershire International Bachelor Articulation Program of UEF and University of Gloucestershire (UoG, UK).

The Rt Hon. Mark Field MP and his accompanying team visited the UEF’s learning environment

The articulation training program between UEF and UoG was officially launched in 2016. The two programs currently offered are English and Linguistics, and Business and Marketing Management, and we are expecting to launch Hotel, Resort and Tourism Management next. UoG is in the top 20 UK universities for the quality of training. Founded in 1834, UoG is one of the oldest universities in the UK with over 180 years of history. UoG is the leader in student support. The University has over 10,000 international students from 44 countries, and ranks 3rd in the UK for graduate employability.

On the visit of the Rt Hon. Mark Field MP, UEF’s leaders presented and discussed the university's internationalization strategy at present and future. UEF will focus on expanding training cooperation with major universities all over the world in many ways, such as international semester, dual degree programs, articulation programs, faculty exchange and research collaboration with schools around the world, especially UK universities. The cooperation with UoG is one of the successful steps of UEF. 


Dr. Nguyen Thanh Giang, President of the University affirmed: "Internationalization is the future of universities in Vietnam. For UEF, we are putting internationalization into a vision and a strategic development. To turn the vision into reality, we have established partnerships with many UK Universities; UEF has two Bachelor programs in partnership with the University of Gloucestershire. The program has been very successful, motivating UEF to add one program in September 2019 in Hotel, Resort and Tourism Management. For postgraduate programs, we are developing a Master's program in English Language Teaching with the University of Gloucestershire. Furthermore, UEF is also cooperating with Leeds Trinity University to implement 2 Bachelor programs in Banking&Finance and International Business next year".

The Rt Hon. Mark Field was the main speaker at a seminar for the students of the University of Gloucestershire Program on the topic of leadership, university life, globalization trends that concern young generations, views on success and foreign affairs between Vietnam and the United Kingdom. The students of the articulation program between UEF and UoG were immensely motivated by the inspiring talk of the Rt Hon. Mark Field.

The MP's visit plays an important role in contributing to strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and the United Kingdom. At the same time, it is also an honor to welcome a senior UK leader and UEF is the only university the Rt Hon. Mark Field visited on this trip.
