[UEF x MIK Group] signing to develop work-integrated learning for international bachelor’s students

UEF International Institute students have constantly had the opportunity to visit, observe at enterprises through the program series "Orientation Field Trip". Most recently was a field trip to Phu Quoc with the potential of developing work-integrated learning activities with the milestone of signing a MOU signing ceremony between UEF and MIK Group - one of the prestigious real estate enterprises of Vietnam, which owns large hotel and apartment chains.

From October 25 to October 27, UEF International Institute faculty together with students of International Hospitality & Tourism Management arrived in Phu Quoc to directly visit, directly work, exchange as well as to sign a strategic cooperation agreement with MIK Group, in an attempt to promote internship and career opportunities for UEF students.
During the visit in Phu Quoc, students of International Hospitality & Tourism Management of the University of Gloucestershire Bachelor’s Programmes (UK) had the chance to visit and meet general managers of 3 hotels and resorts of the enterprise operated by the world's market leader brands of hotels and resorts such as Crowne Plaza Starbay Phu Quoc - luxury brand of IHG Hotels & Resorts, Movenpick Waverly Phu Quoc - luxury brand of Accor Group and Sol by Melia Phu Quoc - luxury brand of Meliá Hotels International.
 
Crowne Plaza Starbay Phu Quoc Hotel – the first destination of UEF delegation
 
On the first day of the trip, UEF representatives were present at Crowne Plaza Starby Phu Quoc hotel. The delegation was welcomed by the Board of Directors of the 5-star hotels and resorts system – MIK Group. UEF students, on the other hand,  were also introduced to professional tasks at 5-star standard hotels.
On the same day, UEF delegates signed the “Strategic cooperation for human resource  development between UEF and the resorts system developed and managed by MIK Group”. Accordingly, students will have the chance to have their internship program and work in at the international hotels and resorts system of MIK Group, particularly three 5-star hotels and resorts in Phu Quoc.

The meeting had the honor to welcome Mr. Huynh Minh Tan – MIK Group enterprise representative, Mr. Winston Gong – General Manager of Crowne Plaza Starbay Phu Quoc, Mr. Olivier Moies-Delval – General Manager of Movenpick Waverly Phu Quoc, and Mr. Alvaro Fernandez Lopez – Hotel Manager of Sol by Melia Phu Quoc. On behalf of UEF attending the meeting were Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc – Vice President & Director of UEF International Institute, Ms. Tran Phuong Quynh – Deputy Director of UEF International Institute, Dr. Hoang Tran Quang Duong – Head of Academic Operation.
Followingly, students continued to discuss with senior industry practitioners about topics related to internships such as the requirements and potential developing orientation if to work there career paths to work in the future.

October 26, students of UEF International Institute started their visit and study at the Movenpick Waverly Phu Quoc hotels and resorts. The students had the opportunity to experience many types of services at 5-star hotels, and were also thoroughly introduced about Movenpick Waverly’s management systems, including hotels, resorts and villas.
At the same time, visiting the modern facility, dormitory and canteen for staff as well as learning about working benefits facilitate students to have a better view when deciding their future career path.

On the last day of the trip, UEF representatives had the opportunity to visit the Sol By Melia hotel and resort. Accordingly, the General Director of SOL by Melia personally guided UEF delegates to visit different areas as well as introduced SOL by Melia’s cultures and sustainable development goals. Students also had the chance to listen to many sharing experience from successful seniors, encouraging students to try harder in the future study and career path.



At the end of the trip, UEF students gained many knowledge and practical experience of hospitality management fields
 
The trip ended with a variety of new opportunities for UEF faculty and students. Hopefully, students of International Hospitality & Tourism Management gain significant experience and information for their learning journey; and, above all, for application for intern vacancies at MIK Group.
