07/01/2023

After a week of exchanging, learning, and exploring various popular spots with UEFers, the student delegation from Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) has gained heaps of knowledge about Vietnamese culture, history, and people.

JULY 1, UEF International Institute held a Closing Ceremony and awarded certificates of completion of the “International Summer Camp in Viet Nam 2023” program. That afternoon, they took a flight back to Taiwan, taking with them many memories from UEF.

UEF representatives included Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc – Vice President, Board of Management and Director, UEF International Institute;  Mr. Huynh Quoc Phong – Director, Center of Corporate Partnerships; Ms. Huynh Tu Anh – Deputy Director, UEF International Institute; Mr. Lam Minh Huy – Faculty member, Faculty of Languages and International Culture, along with UEF International Institute faculty member and UEFers.

The event started with MCUT students reporting their experiences and what they had learned throughout their visit. Four Taiwanese students form a group, guided and supported by one or two UEF students. Thus, a total of three groups had made their closing reports.

Together, the students looked back on their activities from the first day, such as painting palm-leaf conical hats (known as Non la), delving into the culture, learning Vietnamese, and joining exciting field trips to places like Saigon, Ben Tre, Dong Nai, etc. Furthermore, they also had the chance to enjoy the distinctive cuisine of different regions. Through practical exposure, the students related and figured out the similarities of the two cultures like the beauty of Vietnamese and Taiwanese palm-leaf conical hats; rowing activities in Vietnam and Taiwan; or Vietnamese Pho and Taiwan beef noodles, etc.

The program brought the students valuable experiences and lessons, helping them connect with many international friends, and gaining deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture and people.

After listening to the presentations from all groups, Ms. Kelly Chen and Mr. Do Hai Dung left some comments and acknowledged their dedication to the report. Significantly, the group of students who reported in English received high praise and those who could speak basic Vietnamese were also held in high regard.
