Meeting with Oxford student: More insights into global citizens

08/03/2022
Having a bright, energetic smile with an array of outstanding achievements - Thuroczy Viktoria Ly Anh (Viki) - a student of the University of Oxford is our special guest who will come and interact with UEF students on the upcoming August 4. It is expected that Viki will have her sharings in the seminar themed “Global Citizenship from Perspective of an Oxford Student" organised by UEF.

She is a member of the leadership board of the Oxford women's water polo team, being one of eight young expatriates with excellent achievements honored by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee at the Summer Camp 2022.

Prior to being a student at Oxford University, Viki was a prominent member of the Hungarian national synchronized swimming team. She and her classmates have won numerous prestigious medals from domestic to international tournaments, comprising a gold medal in the Hungarian Junior’s Singles Swimming Championship, two gold medals in the Hungarian Swimming Championship, and gold medals in various open international tournaments, etc. She said that her course does not include synchronized swimming, so she maintained her love of swimming by practicing water polo.

In previous years, when the Covid-19 pandemic had not yet broken out, Viki and his family often returned to Vietnam. As her father is Hungarian and her mother is Vietnamese, she has been learning Vietnamese since childhood. Almost every year, she and her sister come home to visit their grandmother, celebrate Tet, learn to pack Chung cake, learn the customs of first-footing and lucky money, and improve their mother tongue among
other things.

Viki always leans towards Vietnam and wishes to bring great values to her homeland

In addition, Viki and her sister always accompany their mother in charity works in their homeland. Being raised and educated in Western culture, Viki has a very modern, dynamic and creative lifestyle and mindset. Because of her Vietnamese origin, Viki's heart always leans towards her beloved motherland and wishes to bring great values  to the country.
She owns many awards and certificates at a very young age

In 2022, when life gradually returns to its normal state after the pandemic, Viki has planned to return to her hometown to carry out various projects to spread positive values. Her first stop is UEF Home.

The main purpose of this visit is to share with Vietnamese students her experiences in the journey of enrolling in the prestigious  University of Oxford as well as the learning and training environment here. This is a good opportunity for UEF students to learn more practical experiences from prior seasoned generations, about the required conditions to build an effective learning path, and to fulfill the dream of studying at prestigious universities abroad such as Oxford.
Let's look forward to the appearance of this special girl on August 4

In this seminar, besides exchanging and socializing with Thuroczy Viktoria Ly Anh, students will meet with outstanding students of UEF Home who have just completed an international course at Arizona State University (ASU) - USA.

In addition to knowledge about Sustainable development, interesting visits and experiences at ASU brought those students a lot of value. Each of them has their own favorite lessons and feelings along the way back to their hometown to share with other students, helping them from another realistic perspective on the model of global citizenship.
