Receptionist training workshop with experts from New World hotel

On April 13th, a training workshop about hotel receptionist was held for students in Hospitality Management to enhance their expertise.
The workshop provides UEFers with practical knowledge

The workshop is pleased to welcome the presence of Mr. Dinh Xuan Hiep - Front desk Manager of New World hotel. With a great number of experiences in various positions from a doorman to a manager, he provided students with essential information in Hospitality Management.
The speaker emphasizes the importance of English in receptionist training

All 5 star hotels have 2 types of room: standard and premium. Although the premium rooms have different classifications, it is compulsory for each room to have waiting staff.
The reception counter is considered as “the face” of the hotel while the receptionist is the most important one. “The ultimate factor that decides the customers’ satisfaction relies on the receptionist’s attitude” said Mr. Xuan Hiep.
He also mentioned about the reasons why customers stopped coming back to the hotel and the biggest one was the dissatisfaction with the employees’ attitude (68%).
UEFers pay close attention to the information shared at the workshop

Besides the front desk, other departments also play an integral role in the success of the hotel including customer service, premium booking, customer guidance, customer support and so on.
In order to help students better understand the functions and duties of each department, Mr. Hiep gave an analysis based on the position chart in the hotel system. In addition, he also shared about the salary sources of a receptionist.

He also listed out 3 positions that new graduates can apply after graduation are switchboard operator, customer service and receptionist positions.
According to Mr. Hiep, students need to have good English proficiency in communicating and dealing with spontaneous situations in order to be able to be successful in this major.
The workshop broadens students’ horizon in their future career

With the wholehearted explanation and instructions of the speaker, UEFers has accumulated a significant number of valuable information and had a clearer picture about their career.
