Service Solution Design Competition 2023: UEFers get to know about Design Thinking

08/09/2023

As a part of the ongoing Service Solution Design Competition 2023 competition in Thailand, UEFers took part in a Design Thinking workshop on August 8. This hands-on session armed students with the necessary skills to successfully bring their competition projects to life.

The workshop was lively and highly practical. Contestants were tasked with designing products or services to assist the elderly aged 60s, 70s, and 80s. To do this, they gained first-hand experience of the elderly’s difficulties by using tools that simulated restricted vision, mobility, and common age-related ailments such as backache, shoulder pain, etc. in daily activities.

Students had many interesting experiences at the workshop

These experiences helped students understand the challenges faced by customers and quickly propose useful support solutions.

In addition, UEF students had a chance to visit Touch Idea Hub (Bangkok) and exchange experiences regarding the development of tech startups. Experts shared knowledge of advanced technologies and business models.

Students gained insights from businesses

UEFers boldly exchanged their innovative ideas and raised questions to get feedback from experts. As a result, they received valuable advice for their ideas, as well as a willingness for future collaboration if the projects can be launched in the market.

UEFers actively exchanged ideas and honed their skills to perfect their projects

Currently, the UEFers’ idea is gradually taking shape. On the third day of the schedule, they will study detailing the project’s values, building a Business Model Canvas and receiving guidance on illustrating their ideas visually.

It’s believed that through this hands-on guidance in the competition, students can absorb and supplement valuable lessons, fully preparing themselves to successfully carry out their projects.
