MAY 12 - UEF welcomed the representatives from Zhejiang Normal University (China) to pay a visit around the school and then attend a working session. The meeting involves discussions about some faculty member/student exchange programs as well as other short cultural exchanges intended for students.
The meeting had the presence of Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc – Vice President, Board of Management, and Director, UEF International Institute; Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan – Deputy Dean, Faculty of Languages and International Cultures; Mr. Huynh Tu Anh – Deputy Director, UEF International Institute.
On Zhejiang Normal University's behalf, there were Mr. Sun Lin – College of International Culture and Social Development and Mr. Ye Zi-ping – Section Chief of International Office.
Representatives from the two universities discuss future cooperation
In the working session, representatives from both sides introduced an overview of their respective institutions. During the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan shared information about the Chinese Language major to the partner university.
Mr. Ye Zi-ping, in turn, informed that Zhejiang University has a total of 71 undergraduate majors, 8 first-level doctoral programs, a delegation of authority for granting doctoral degrees, 28 first-level master's programs, 13 professional master's programs, 7 post-doctoral mobile stations, 2 "Plan 111" innovation centers, 4 disciplines (mathematics, chemistry, engineering, and materials science) ranked in the world's top 1% on the ESI list, and 20 first-tier subject areas in Zhejiang province.
Currently, Zhejiang Normal University is seeking partnerships from Asian countries, especially in Vietnam. The representatives of UEF highlighted the opportunity for student exchange programs, faculty member exchange programs, and short-term exchange programs.
UEF integrating their education system for UEFers
Zhejiang Normal University was founded in 1956, headquartered in Zhejiang Province. This is a key provincial general university specializing in teacher training. As of October 2021, Zhejiang University has three campuses located in Kim Hoa (headquarters), Hangzhou (On Ni campus, Tiao Shan campus), and Lanxi, as well as 19 colleges (including independent colleges). The university has continuously established cooperative relationships and exchanges with over 140 higher education institutions in more than 50 countries and regions across five continents. Additionally, the university has established inter-university student exchange programs with over 30 foreign universities.
Through the meeting with Zhejiang Normal University, UEF is determined to expand more opportunities for UEFers to experience the traditional education system of The Land of the Dragon. UEF also hopes to facilitate global relationships to better integrate into the international education system.
