UEF representatives attend Industry 4.0 Conference

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) collaborated with the Agency for Southern Affairs - Ministry of Science and Technology and Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City to organize a conference themed “Improving the effectiveness of people to people diplomacy and contributing to the development of science diplomacy in the industry revolution 4.0” with more than 200 delegates, reporters, representatives, and undergraduates including UEF members.

The conference had the participation of the representatives from Vietnam, namely the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City External Relations Department, Deparments and Agencies, sub-organizations of the HUFO, Central and Local News Agencies. International representatives were Consul General and staff, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Business Associations, postgraduates and scholars having a cooperative relationship with the HUFO.

On behalf of UEF, there was the presence of Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc Vice President & Director, International Institute, Ms. Huynh Tu Anh – Deputy Director, International Institute, Mr. Le The Hien – Faculty member of Tourism & Hospitality Management, conference secretariat on Educational and Cultural Cooperation, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Anh – Faculty member of Finance & Commerce, who presented the topic Economic and Trade Cooperation, and 10 UEFers.

In the opening remarks, Mr. Phan Anh Son – Vice President & General Secretary of the HUFO, emphasized people-to-people diplomacy to be an indispensable part of the VUFO and HUFO. Therefore, diplomats must have artistic and scientific knowledge of foreign policy alongside bravery and intelligence.

Shortly after that, the conference had 3 sessions simultaneously with 3 groups of discussion topics, including Educational and Cultural Cooperation, Economic and Trade Cooperation, Scientific, Technical, Medical and Public health Cooperation. The sessions with 19 reports, which were presented by experts, researchers, businesses, and management agencies, focused on clarifying the art of the people-to-people diplomacy of Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam towards other countries in many fields.

Many delegates gave particular attention to the art of people-to-people diplomacy in education and culture which are considered to be essential and accessible as well as flexibly and skillfully applied in diplomacy.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Anh, who represented UEF co-authors, spoke of the impacts, opportunities and challenges of trade liberalization and economic integration in Vietnam under new trade agreements. The co-authors systematized a number of tariff and non-tariff theories as well as identified their implications for the globalized economy of Vietnam to point out possibilities and risks facing Vietnamese businesses in the context of international economic integration.

 

As an internationalized environment, UEF has constantly promoted diplomacy in education and more specifically in majors related to international affairs such as International Business, International Economics, International Relations, etc. Moreover, participating in conferences will assist leaders, faculty members, and students gain more experience and accumulate knowledge that can be effectively applied in their management, teaching, and learning activities in today’s integration.
