UEF’s “Return to the Roots” program – memorable moments

With youthful energy, enthusiasm, and deep solidarity, on March 29, 2015 UEF’s Union branch consisting of teachers and staff went on an unforgettable “Về nguồn” (returning to the roots) tour of the provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre.
 
At 6 a.m., members of UEF’s Union branch gathering, forming teams, and creating team names and impressive, unique slogans.


Solidarity demonstrated through warm-up exercises before group setting off.

On Thoi Son islet, the competition “Tát mương bắt cá” (Bail out water from ditches to catch fish by hand) taking place in extreme excitement and nail-biting suspense.


Being heartily cheered and having indomitable team spirit, “Cứ từ từ” (No need to hurry) team convincingly won the competition.


After enjoying the renowned dish of “Cá lóc nướng trui” (snake - head fish cooked on open fire, using skewers), the teams had a chance to demonstrate their talent in the contest “hát đờn ca tài tử” (a traditional music genre originating in the Mekong Delta). This time, “Anh Ba Khía” team totally convinced the judges and won first prize.

The group arriving at a honey producing place, enjoying honey tea made by local people.


Continuing the tour, all members started a boat trip on the Tien river to explore the natural beauty and feel the friendliness and heartiness of Mekong Delta people.  

Arriving in Ben Tre, the group had a chance to observe the process of making coconut candy. The “Candy wrapping” competition attracted many “golden hands” of UEF. 

All members riding on horse-drawn carriages, ending the cheerful and meaningful “Về nguồn” tour this year.
