UEF x Thailand partner – International education opportunities for UEFers

Connecting and collaborating with various universities inside and outside of Vietnam to expand opportunities for students has significantly attracted UEF’s attention. On May 25, UEF had an academic exchange session with North Bangkok University (NBU), Thailand. These discussions contribute to amplifying learning and international experience opportunities for UEFers in “The Land of Smiles” in the near future.

The meeting honorably had the presence of Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc – Vice President, Board of Management and Director, UEF International Institute; Dr. Duong My Tham – Deputy Dean, Faculty of English; Ms. Huynh Tu Anh – Deputy Director, UEF International Institute; along with lecturers and students from UEF. 

There was also Mr. Pham Minh Huy – Executive Committee Member, Ho Chi Minh City TESOL Association.

The NBU delegation included Mr. Saiwaroon Chumpavan – Program Director of TESOL, M.A. & Ph.D. in English Language Studies; Ms. Suwanna Yutthapirut – Faculty member & Ph.D. student in English Language Studies; Mr. Nutcha Euanorasetr – Faculty member in B.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Program; and Ms. Sakolwan Pumvong – Faculty member in B.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Program, along with other NBU’s doctors, masters, and undergraduates.
 

NBU’s representatives showed gratitude towards UEF

During the working session, representatives from both universities shed light on the education systems and faculties. The two sides also exchanged ideas on future movements and programs after signing the MOU. Mr. Saiwaroon Chumpavan expressed his pleasure at the warm welcome and excitement for future cooperation. 

In addition, the academic event, "Effective English language teaching strategies in Thailand and Vietnam", was also held. The main contents delivered in the event provided valuable information about English language learning methods.

Three main topics were presented by the speakers from NBU and UEF, including: Unpacking ESL: Effective English teaching strategies; 5 neuroscience-based principles to understand learning mechanism: Listening skills focusing; Edtech tools to develop digital learning materials.

During their visit to UEF, NBU representatives delivered a lecture by the English Department. NBU was impressed with the teaching method, model, and class size. Direct teacher-student interaction helps students improve their skills efficiently. UEFers actively participate in class and contribute to the learning activities even though they are freshmen and sophomores.

It is worth mentioning that North Bangkok University has an international education environment with luxurious and cutting-edge facilities. NBU is one of the most famous private universities in Thailand and provides a special education system for both undergraduate and postgraduate students across 8 faculties and one international college. The university is also known for their multi professional training for talented and skillful students. This is a perfect fit for UEFers to connect and learn.
 

The working session has been successfully concluded  

NBU’s visit has provided plenty of additional open doors for students to learn in an international environment. Therefore, UEFers can now look forward to experiencing high-quality learning programs and expanding their knowledge in the near future.
