02/29/2024

With the aim of internationalizing education and guiding students to enhance themselves as "global citizens," UEF provides opportunities for students from countries around the world through exchange programs and cultural activities. Among these, the international semester is an indispensable component of UEF's bilingual program, providing valuable lessons in knowledge and skills while enabling students to engage with practical experiences.

In 2024, the university is actively enhancing this distinctive semester to build international connections and provide students with the opportunity to experience learning from prestigious institutions around the world. The program will be held in each academic semester, with the most recent one taking place during the 2B semester and summer semester of the academic year 2023-2024.

UEFers have the opportunity to 'study abroad' in Semester 2B and the summer semester of the academic year 2023-2024.

UEFers' Global Academic Journeys Across International Semesters

The vast network of connections with universities stretching from Europe to Asia at UEF enables students to seamlessly enroll in academic programs in their preferred countries. During their international studies, students not only have access to a modern global education system but also get to explore and engage with diverse cultures, fostering connections with international peers.

The international semester program for the academic year 2023 - 2024 will be divided into two phases, outlined as follows:

The international semester will take place during the 2B semester, where students will have the opportunity to study at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and HELP University in Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The study period will last for 4 weeks (expected from May 20, 2024, to June 16, 2024). Students can register for the program until March 24, 2024.

In addition to the two universities in Malaysia, students will have the option to study at Tongmyong University (TU) in Busan, South Korea, during the international semester program held in the summer semester. This program is scheduled to take place for 4 weeks, from July 22, 2024, to August 18, 2024. The registration deadline for students is April 28, 2024.

Malaysia and South Korea are familiar countries where UEFers frequently participate in international activities and programs.

This program is designed for UEF students from various disciplines who desire to study abroad. The medium of instruction is exclusively in English. During the registration process, students can choose two proficiency levels: English 5 and English 6 (students must have attained English 4 proficiency), which are equivalent to 8 credit hours, or three specialized courses (students must be in their second year or above and achieve English 6 proficiency), corresponding to 9 credit hours.

Benefits for participating in international semesters

When participating in the international semester, students will have the opportunity to enhance their language skills in an entirely English-speaking academic environment and engage with foreigners. With a modern educational environment, UEFers gain access to trending subjects and stay updated with valuable knowledge relevant to their majors.

International semesters assist students in honing their English communication skills and other essential competencies

In addition to the opportunity to have credits transferred which are accredited in all subjects at partner universities, students also have the chance to interact with international friends and gain insights into the culture, history, and people of the new country throughout their study period. Moreover, students will experience the life of studying abroad and develop their independence skills.

Participating in international semesters, UEFers will benefit from a quality and contemporary educational environment in Malaysia and South Korea. Activities conducted in these settings will help students enhance their English communication skills, elevate self-learning capabilities, and develop teamwork skills. UEFers, seize this exciting opportunity and register now to embark on this enriching experience.
