UEFers win top prizes at Chinese singing competition for international students

The Chinese Singing Competition for International Students serves as a platform for students to hone their linguistic abilities through Chinese songs, and foster a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and its people.

Two UEFers, Pham Hoang Thien Kim and Huynh Thi Ngoc Linh, both from the 2021 Chinese Language major, intake 2021, Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, distinguished themselves with their outstanding achievements at the competition.

With fluent language skills and expressive voice, Thien Kim excellently won the first prize. Meanwhile, Ngoc Linh finished in third place overall. Both performances expressed the theme of love, with the happy and sad emotions of studenthood, which made a strong impression and were highly praised by the jury.


After receiving the prize from the organizers, Thien Kim and Ngoc Linh shared: "We both feel very happy and very lucky to have been supported by many international friends. When we stepped onto the stage, the audience all clapped and cheered enthusiastically.

Both of them are currently participating in the International student exchange program at Qufu Normal University in China. Here, they both have adapted to the learning environment and experienced a variety of exchange activities with international students.

The Chinese Singing Competition for International Students is organized by the International Education Institute to enrich the cultural scene and encourage international students to understand the charm of the Chinese language. The competition, with 18 teams from Vietnam, South Korea, Egypt, etc., had 3 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 5 third prizes, and 6 consolation prizes.

As part of the event, UEFers and teams from other countries visited the "Three Confucius", a collection of historical sites that are sacred to the Confucian tradition. The sites include the Temple and Cemetery of Confucius and the Kong Family Mansion.

UEF Chinese Language students have consistently won prizes at major competitions, including the Consolation Prize at the 2023 National Chinese Speaking Contest. In addition, students majoring in Korean Language and Japanese Language also gained prizes at other major competitions like the first "I am a Japanese Teacher" contest and K-Quiz 2023, etc.

After the competition, UEFres UEF students not only improved their Chinese language skills but also gained profound insights into Chinese culture and people through musical works. This competition also provided UEF students with many memorable experiences with international friends.
