During the UEF teachers and faculty members’ long business trip to Japan, where the Japanese language students were in their internship. Over the past few days, they were impressed and left with much love, respect and admiration regarding UEFers’ maturity and boosted confidence in their abroad internship decision.

Doubt over his own foreign language ability?

Nguyen Quang Dat's sense of humor and optimism have given UEF leaders hope as students gain more confidence when embarking on assigned tasks at the internship site.

Finishing work at 21:00 at Itoen Oze Oigami Sandrakusho Resort of Itoen Group, Quang Dat had the opportunity to happily chat with his teachers, he humorously shared: “During my first days here, I could barely understand work instructions in Japanese which I had learned for nearly three years at UEF. Yet things improved a lot after two weeks, I could communicate and complete my tasks better. In that first days, I wondered whether I wasted the knowledge learned."

Quang Dat is sorely impressed with the Japanese working style

Talking about the difficulties during his internship in Japan, Quang Dat shared, "When I was in Vietnam, I also tried my hand at some jobs at Japanese restaurants, but I had not yet grasped the idea of the operation and work arrangement. When I came to Japan as an intern, I was completely surprised by the delicate working procedure and arrangement, especially where I am working."

UEF interns gain many creative lessons from their direct managers

Quang Dat also expressed his gratitude towards the creative lessons he learned thanks to the manager’s companion during work, which he considers the utmost importance. “This is what I appreciate the most up to this point of my internship.”

With the experience gained from his internship, he also gives advice to juniors, "to take full advantage of the internship abroad, it is integral to get familiar with some jobs in Vietnam for about two years before thinking about going to Japan to study."

Surprised by UEF interns

The Japanese symbolic smile and greetings were the first impressions that Vo Hoang Kim Ngan and Phan Thi Dieu left on UEF teachers when meeting at the Itoen Asama no Yu hotel (Nagano province) - a peaceful hotel with traditional Japanese style where the two girls are working as interns.

“The hotel where we work has both part-time Japanese and foreign workers, so we can communicate in Japanese and English. When Ngan and I started working, we did it very quickly, the jobs we took on were quite simple. Many people who work directly with us are surprised, some even tell us to slow down, we don't need to be so fast," Dieu happily shared.

Colleagues are very surprised by their quick adaptation

Kim Ngan, the girl with a bright smile and a face that is considered "misleading" by teachers because she looks Japanese, expressed “We don’t find the work here difficult as we are used to it. What is more, our leader understands and always supports me no matter in work or life. Working here, on rest days, I cycle to visit some famous places, and experience the life of Japanese people nearby."

Commenting on two students Kim Ngan and Phan Dieu, their manager - Mr. Tadashi Satou openly shared: “UEF's interns have helped us a lot. No worries, they are young and enthusiastic. Their studying here will definitely be beneficial for their future studies when they return to Vietnam.”
