UEFers showcase innovative AI ideas at the NextGen AI Challenge 2025

MAY 31, Intending to foster students’ interest in AI research and practical applications, while also creating an academic playground that bridges technological thinking with real-world needs, the Faculty of Information Technology, in collaboration with the International Institute, organized the “NextGen AI Challenge 2025: AI Application Competition.”

The event welcomed Mr. David Tien Nguyen – General Manager of Blue Galaxy Group. Representing UEF were Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc – Vice President; Dr. Nguyen Ha Giang – Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology; Dr. Nguyen Kim Thoa – Deputy Director of the International Institute; Dr. Van Thi Thien Trang – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology; Ms. Hoang Thi Hang – Assistant to the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, along with UEF lecturers and students.

In the Final Round, the panel of expert judges provided valuable feedback on the presentations delivered by five competing teams. The panel included Mr. Vo Hong Son – Head of Business Division, International Institute; Mr. Dang Vinh Hien – Lecturer, Faculty of Information Technology; and MSc. Pham Nguyen Thach Thao – Lecturer, Faculty of Information Technology.

The Final Round featured five dynamic teams, each bringing a unique AI-based idea to the competition. These included “Should We Panic When ChatGPT Starts Making Stuff Up?” by team GenZ AI, “Software Development Using Grok” by team Kubel Waegen, “ChatGPT – Open the Future” by team Taskmind, “Applying Copy.AI Tool in Content Marketing” by team 5AIphas, and “How ChatGPT Helps Overcome Language Barriers During the High School to University Transition” by team AI Application.

Each team presented an AI application idea they had developed over several weeks. The topics showcased not only originality but also a keen awareness of current tech trends, along with a serious and creative research spirit. The teams emphasized the real-world relevance of their topics, their application goals, and the role of AI in offering effective solutions. Their presentations were well-structured in content and visually engaging—blending technological thinking with solid reasoning to persuasively engage the audience.

Notably, the rebuttal sessions were marked by confidence and sharp reasoning, demonstrating each team’s deep understanding of their chosen topic. Faced with questions from the judging panel, the students responded with flexibility and persuasiveness, showcasing strong critical thinking skills. The judges highly appreciated the teams’ thorough preparation, growth mindset, and continuous effort throughout the competition, encouraging them to keep developing their ideas beyond the event.

During the award ceremony, Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc extended his congratulations to all the teams, acknowledging their hard work and impressive achievements in the Final Round. He also encouraged students to maintain their spirit of continuous learning and to keep striving for new milestones—thereby contributing to enhancing UEF’s reputation in both the local and international academic communities.

Based on criteria including originality, feasibility, and overall performance in the Final Round, the panel of judges selected the winners as follows:
First Prize was awarded to the project “Software Development Using Grok” by team Kubel Waegen.
Second Prize went to “Applying Copy.AI Tool in Content Marketing” by team 5AIphas.
Third Prize was awarded to “ChatGPT – Open the Future” by team Taskmind.
The Talent Award was given to two projects: “How ChatGPT Helps Overcome Language Barriers During the High School to University Transition” by team AI Application and “Should We Panic When ChatGPT Starts Making Stuff Up?” by team GenZ AI.

The Final Round of the “NextGen AI Challenge 2025” wrapped up, leaving a strong impression of UEF students’ creativity, technological mindset, and ability to apply AI to real-life situations. The competition served as a launching pad for young talents to develop their ideas, demonstrate their capabilities, and contribute to enhancing the image of UEF students as dynamic and intelligent individuals in the digital age.
