UEF welcomes the Embassy of Ireland, CSDS, FOI

FEBRUARY 18 - Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF) welcomed the Embassy of Ireland, the Center for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS), and Friends of Ireland (FOI) coming to visit and work on the Service - Learning activities. This event marks a long-lasting and sustainable cooperation with these partners for years to come.

The event had the participation of the Embassy of Ireland representatives, including Mr. Phan Dang Cuong Social Development Advisor; Ms. Tran Mai Phuong Media Advisor of Education in Ireland Vietnam, and a member of the FOI Advisory Board.  Ms. Tran Thuong Thuong Project Official, and Mr. Pham Truong Son a member of the FOI Advisory Board, represented CSDS and FOI.

From UEF, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri UEF Vice President, Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc – Vice President & Director of the UEF International Institute, Mr. Bui Quang Dong – Director of the Department of Student Services, Ms. Dinh Nguyen Thien An – Director of the Center of Service Learning and Ms. Huynh Tu Anh – Deputy Director of the UEF International Institute.
UEF representatives introduced the Institution, international programs, and community events.
During the session, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri gave an overview of UEF and emphasized the business and community engagement training activities that UEF has been implementing. Regarding international activities, Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc stated that UEF has long-term and comprehensive cooperation relationships with more than 30 universities worldwide, and expressed his wish to cooperate with Irish universities in the future.

Also, Ms. Dinh Nguyen Thien An presented the activities and the accomplishments of the Center of Service Learning. Besides, the group of students coordinating the project "Children's Smile" - Online teaching activities for children at Truyen Tin Shelter (Mái Ấm Truyền Tin), and Dang Ngoc Minh Thu, a student of the Faculty of Public Relations and Communication, batch of 2018, talked about their hands-on experience while learning to serve the community.

Additionally, Mr. Phan Dang Cuong representing the Ireland Embassy expressed his excitement at the international partnership between UEF and Ireland, and also applauded the UEF's Service - Learning approach. "Service - Learning is the process of learning with, for, and from the community," he emphasized.

Ms. Tran Thuong Thuong and Mr. Pham Truong Son also discussed the activities that FOI is planning to implement in the South for the years ahead, including the desire to collaborate with UEF to organize an event to commemorate Ireland's National Day on March 17, as well as other cultural and musical exchange programs.

The Embassy of Ireland, CSDS, and FOI grapsed this chance to visit the UEF campus and other departments.

This event contributes to affirming the UEF's strategy for comprehensive education internationalization, as well as strengthening UEF's long-term and sustainable cooperative relationships with its partners.
